I heard a whisper that in the superstock class after the 2 heats the top on points were all stockcars - so the super guys got together and sorted out the stockcar guys. The battle was back on after the last meeting of last year so to speak - good on the stockcar guys for getting out there with the superstocks to help them with the numbers.
Sounds like a great start to the year down that way. Long may it continue.
And to correct an earlier post - heard it was deno who won the first race, and he was going very quick. Good on ya deno, and good to see the new car going well.

Thanks obby we had a rather strange nite . Yep first ever official race win and they give the flag to someone else . Heat 2 finished 6th only to be relagated 4 places . Heat three finished 4th . Over the PA comes the news that we finished 2nd overall , Then told no it was really 3rd overall still i'm rapt , over to prizegiving we all trot . Proud wife and daughters and crew standing by only not to have my name read out at all !! Yep the ELS and officials at the glen are alive and working well again this season .

Sorry for stealing your second place with a 2nd 3rd and 9th. Thought it was funny I was 22nd overall. Good old ELS Brand new $500 transmitter and we were still recorded and commentated as being way down the results. But you did well to be two laps ahead of everyone else!

it was a shame that a rut appeared in the track, but there was some awesome drive on the track though. It just got a bit slick in turn 4 toward the end of the night but overall a good track. A very well run night by woodford glen if you ask me!

Malcolm Ngatai got ordered off for a flat right front,so why didint Blaine Blyth in another race??? Malcom was taken of because he kept racing at race pace and throwing dirt into the crowd with a flat tire

Unfortunately due to the club being told only 1 month out from the new season starting (& not at the and of last season) that we were without our ELS operator we had to quickly find a replacement. we have done & we are sure the new person will quckly get their head around it.
The stockcar/superstock battle from last year wasnt on obby, but that will come later in the season I suspect. It was a great race last season & everyone involved had a ball. If my car doesnt sell, I will be patiently waiting for Leech & Anderton......

Was definitely a strange night!
The 5c was double stinting in supers and stockies, so we didn't get a lot of time between races, but were pretty happy with the evening....managed to get a victory lap in the second stockcar race, which was odd as we were sure we were 4th or 5th...which it turns out we were.
Received some steering damage in the last stockie race which caused a DNF by about a quarter of a lap...the car just wouldn't go back out on the track....then had a DNS for the last super race, as fixed steering but hadn't noticed the driveshaft had fallen out of the back of the gearbox...might need to lengthen that a fraction lol
A good nights racing, so roll on next weekends Canty champs ;D

Well done Deno, I have to admit I thought it very odd I got given the flag in the 2nd Stockcar race, I remember running 2nd for a bit then 1st after 46 got caught up turn 4, I counted 3 cars passing me before the flag non I had lapped so I was thinking 4th, was about to pull into the gate when they shuffled me through to take the flag lol, go figure I'm still getting a pic tho ;D ;D ;D 3rd heat I took 28 out (had to get ya Craig) but took myself out doing it, bent the steering so had nothing to work with after that, still we had a great night and running with the supers was great fun, cant wait to get mine finished and back out there.

Yeah, there was a hiccup or two with the ELS, As you can imagine in the contact classes, they are all over the place after a couple of laps! and we were going off the ELS feed for current placings and therefore made a couple of wrong calls. we soon relised that the system was not %100 and reverted back to what we could see only but it was fun! and to answer a Q about manual lap scoring. EVERY race is lapscored manually weather the grade runs transponders or not so this is our backup should things go pear shaped. Kirsten and her crew are very busy during a race, with one calling and two writing down. I went into the lappy's room with a query about the way the ELS was operating and Kirsten was calling, "16,32,54,35,67," etc, and it does'nt help when i put my hand up and go "BINGO!" Sorry Kirsten! I still luff you! lol! But that said, the ELS problem has been identified and rectified and will not occur again. Cheers! :0)

Don't worry, I've had worse distractions while calling (that is NOT a challenge btw for you to try and find the worst distraction either!) Yes there were some teething problems with the ELS - actually to start with it was the printer - ELS was working fine but when you don't have working printer its pretty hard to print off results! So the manual results were checked against the electronic results to start with. Then the ELS went down too (you gotta love technology) so we were completely reliant on the manual system for a while until we got it (and the printer) working again (and believe me thats no easy job when you're trying to call races at the same time!). So please be patient with us poor lapscorers while we settle into learning how to overcome the problems that the ELS system throws up from time to time. We're human as well and if you don't know how insane it can get upstairs, feel free to come and give us a hand and you can experience first hand the pressures that can arise for us. ;D

any idea when the (els)results will be posted on the web? They wont be this week sorry. With the ELS not working properly I thought it probably wasn't the best idea to get Roger to put some incorrect results on the website. Next week...hopefully...! (There will be some results put on the website but just listings of who got 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each race).

Are the 1,2,3 results going to be the right ones or the ones they read out at the prizegiving ?

Well done on your win Deno!!! Brilliant!
Now, did I hear incorrectly at driver's briefing that if there was a tie that they were going to count back two races and see who finished furtherest up the field? Well, that is what I thought I heard! How come then a coin was tossed to decide 2nd and 3rd in A Grade? Thought that we had ceased to become the only sport in NZ that decides a championship place on the toss of a coin!
