heres hoping from my point of view its the latter......

And you can disregard any reported comments about a Ford quadcam. It's the Donovan Chev, for sure.

Which makes scottyfan's post the kind that makes me grind my teeth.
Craig might not be to everyone's liking but he won three New Zealand titles in a five-year career. He was a learner in year one, won it in year two, had a misguided attempt at defending it in Scotty's Tank in year three, then went back-to-back in years four and five.
No one has come close to matching that and it deserves respect, even if he's not necessarily your cup of tea.

you must remember 1 of boote,s titles was a soft title in huntly where it was one of those weak 25 lapper format with almost zero action & all racing to decide the outcome not like evans/free/podjursky etc who had to race in the much tougher format of 3 heat finals.

That's largely irrelevant rockyford. You can't blame a driver for the format at an event that they won. A driver can only compete under the conditions imposed by the sanctioning organisation. I agree; the 25-lap format went out the window some time ago in favour of the three-heat format, but that does not in any way take away from the accomplishment of a driver who wins under the stated format. And if you're going to poke borax at Boote for winning a "soft" title, what does that say about the other competitors in the field?
Sadly, the Tall Poppy syndrome seems to be alive and well in speedway, as Totspete has alluded. Little wonder that Boote took his talents elsewhere!

Surely a true test of the quality of a stockcar driver is not just individual drivers, but teams racing and there success in that arena.
Booty was a teams racer for the tigers throughout, and put car and body on the line.
I dont no the stats off hand, but when he was in the team they had some good success at both PN and Aucklands event.
At the end of the day, you can count the number of people who won the NZ title twice on one hand.
You can count the number of people who one 3 NZ titles on 2 fingers.
If he takes another title he will be the best there has been. No arguement. Especially with the current Rotorua and PN dominance of the superstock ranks.

Everybody that went through to the final night at Huntly knew Craig was a man to beat. He was a marked man, and people even tried taking him out. But stil went on to win the title. There were alot of great cars/drivers and teams that were in the same race. Craig did a great job. Cant see anything easy about that.

There appeared to be a few drivers after Craig in that race. If my memory is right Craig Pierce slowed some chasers and gave Craig the breathing space he needed.

There appeared to be a few drivers after Craig in that race. If my memory is right Craig Pierce slowed some chasers and gave Craig the breathing space he needed. The NZ Stockcar Championship 25 lap Final by MacgorRodney Wood had pole and lead away from 57w Wayne Hemi on two . Pierce had left from grid ten and was soon involved in a melee that had him spinning out in turn three effectively taking away any chance he had of winning a second title .Wood continued to lead with pressure coming from Joe Faram . Boote meanwhile had got himself up to third place from his grid nine start . Wood's race turned to rubbish when he came up on back marker 17a Rick Campbell going into turn one .Wood tried to push the 17a car of the race line and finished going out with him and being caught up for a second or two when Campbell spun .That suited Faram just fine and through into the lead he went . Wood was just getting back up to speed when Boote poked his nose down the inside snatching the number two spot . Faram was looking good for several laps until he slipped by Craig Pierce who fell in behind and punted him off line entering turn one . Faram recovered but Boote was all over him now and took the position exactly one lap later . Pierce though was working for Boote and kept at Faram causing Faram to almost spin on one occasion Faram's run ended completely when 83r Wayne Houston turned nasty and nailed him to the turn three wall on the second to last lap . Through it all Rodney Wood still managed third place while Brendon Rowlands got himself into second . The only problem I have with Rowland's position is that I am sure that the points he was given in Grid Qualifying Race 2 were far too high which in turn helped him to a grid 5 start in the big final race .He may well have still ended up second even if he had started further down the pack but now we will never know . The big 25 lap ran the full distance with out a red and was over far too quickly for my liking .Congratulations to Craig Boote because he was awesome on the night .
