Going from the replies above and results in the weekend it looks like the South is on the way to 100cars, but not quite there yet.
25 CHCH 9 Dunedin 16 Nelson 6 Invercargill 15 Greymouth 9 Blenheim
Thats a great result so far this season - 80 cars - be very interesting to see how many get out by the end of the season, and if the class continues to grow.

If only half of these cars were to turn up for the two night meeting it would make for a pretty good event. Plus add in the two or three North Island drivers that have made noises about coming to the mainland for a crack at the title as well and it should be a cracker of a meeting. An awesome two nights racing to get you into the mood before Christmas.

If a Northerner has the gall to try and compete in this event, my hope would be every true man from the south in their qualifying group absolutely bashes the snot out of their car so the finals are a true South Island Championship. By the way I don't like Island champs becoming inter-island champs in case you didn't notice

Thanks for the Update G-daddy. I think this could be the biggest south island stockcar title event held.
Will this be the only place to download the forms? If so, no problems - will take a few down to Greymouths next meeting and see how the guys are looking. There were a few who were sounding pretty keen. Hopefully we can get a few more, as it would be great to get at least 10 up there.
cheers

The clubs will be sent entries, so it will be up to them to distribute, but SNZ's website has the download, and now this site as well as the Nelson stockcars website has a link as well.

not really sure why a northener would bother to enter, needless to say the rules should not allow it. surely they must be aware that they would be the 1st targets. its not that far away either, i know im no where ready

I seem to remember Messrs Rees and Ogle at the South Island Superstocks making it to the end of races. Totally unbelievable

Back on topic. From what I saw of them last season, South Island stockcars are not only growing in numbers, but in machinery and more importantly in ability in the class. Driver skill levels as much as numbers will make for great event.

official entry forms have just been produced so it will probably be coupla weeks before numbers start to roll in. not to mention there is some serious racing to be done before then and some might not want to commit to early.
