Put the surface from the inside track on to the big track ;D is it 11 or 12 years of excuses with the surface there if it wasn't for the fact my family live in the Bay I wouldn't waste my time and money going there. Sidecar 19v

Heys guys, got to agree about the track. What a mess. They have had six months to sort it but they never do. Even Saloons were struggling on the track tonight, no surprise why there was a accident in sidecars first race. Come on meeanee sort out the track, for the safety and enjoyment of all concerned.

Well on a positive note , we came up from feilding hanging out for another good opening nite, and I think it was pretty ok. the new 17b green machine looked impressive althought no wins, craig humphries 98p was hookin up and had good speed(shame about the flat tryes) shane penn looked like he never even had a break! superstock22b meechie I think looks like a sidecar on steriords winds up well ,i wouldnt want to be the headers on that car! the supers were sorta averagers, the 1nz supersaloon looks like something I jam at the bottom of my bedroom door on a sunday morning so the kids stay out of my room! feature stckcar race was a bit of fun. Nah i didnt waste $30 and $50 of fuel to get there, i thought it was a good opening meeting. All the best to those sidecar guys(red 45) ouch that looked bloody terrible, I like crashes but that didnt look like fun.Just my thoughts

It's just hard on the car, shocks etc, Stockcars are built for it tho, you find the local drivers run more tyre pressure to keep the right rears on the car. Last night you had to stay off the pole line, there was a smooth line if you chose to take it, the tracks the same for all cars, I feel for the bikes tho.

... A question to all car drivers. How much damage does racing on a track like that do to your vehicles??? NONEIf the consensus is Hawkes Bay provided a very poor track it must be they are on two wheels (or three), or rarely travel! For the saloon competitor, compared to some tracks on occasion, Meeanee was excellent. Yes, it slicked off, but at least it was the same for all and largely consistant. I got a TEXT apology from Meeanee today (Sunday) for the track condition - A FIRST from a track! Thanks! The track did absolutely NO damage to any super saloon or saloon last night. It is rough tracks, not slick tracks, that damage cars. All damage last night was done by over excited drivers.A few pics of the saloons and super saloons in the pits ... The format used when the super saloons and saloons share the track needs to be determined then adhered to. To start the supers a lap down but directly in front of the saloons was confusing to the spectators and apparently to the super saloon drivers. George Hildred, saloon 14b, the 'mad accountant' drives awesome clearing out to win heat two. Meeanee, it was Opening Night after a horrific period of unsettled weather and wet winter, out of your control. Okay, the track slicked off and perhaps you tried to please too many classes by having too many on the program. To pay $60 to get in the gate plus a St John donation was steep - but all things considered, Meeanee did well and our family had a good time in the Bay!

Had a great weekend in Napier, and an ok night at Meeanee. Was a huge improvement from the circus that was put on last season (04-04-09). I was feeling a bit iffy about going after the last meeting we attended but thought new season, new chances. Im glad to hear the sidecar guys are ok as the ambo was dealing with them as we arrived. Just the one thing annoyed me was the letting of the clown in the 1nz derby car carry on after trying to take out the whole field in the 2nd race. What is this guy on?? Does he not understand the saying,"Drive to the conditions" Well done to 14B George Hildred on his first win. ;D

Showing my off season hibernation:
Grandad - You're out of "retirement" or was the off season a re-tyre-ment.
McIntyre's 1NZ has changed body shape. Much more rounded this year - Looks good.

I just hope that speedway will last past this season in Mt Maunganui.. The future of speedway at Baypark IS NOT at risk from any City Council decisions or agendas (hidden or otherwise) at this time. The future of speedway at Baypark is in the hands of the 'promotions company' and 'BOP Speedway Association'.
