Check out the latest video clip from stockcarscene - its on the Noticeboard - The teams race from the mid '80's between Stratford and the Mount.
A fair amount of feeling especially towards the end with a couple of illegal moves going on........fists flying etc etc etc...
Well worth a look..
Keep those clips coming Wal.....

Is it what - That scrappers team were commitment personified - and it took a major level of commitment by Nellie to take the win away from them What about doctor John in 19s twice making a shorter track by going through the infeild to come out in front of the Baypark car. Or Nellie Irvine, who frequents this boards cut of the poleline, and then brave/crazy almost wrong way hit on the lead stratford car. All finishing with a bit of passion brimming over...great stuff, and what makes history. X NZ Champ Russel Joblin all fired up - one of the reasons it would be great to see the Joblin boys back representing the scrappers - both have the fire within them to bring stratford back to prominance, especially with two of the key Panthers injured and with questions over there ability to recover by teams champs time. And as above - keep those vids coming Wal, great stuff

watched it a couple of times and although vaugely borderline i think nellies hit was ok when he took out the lead stratford car. without measuring it with a protractor or something it would seem to be at 90 degrees. i would call it admissible. his hit on the 8s thou was questionable. i didnt study this one so hard and i am undetermined wether it was intentional or a momentary loss of control. as for the other stratty cars , perhaps they thought they were figure 8 racing ;D

Think you will find thereb wasnt as many teams racing rules back then so at the time probably most of the hits were legal! If those hits were performed now it would end in a man slaughter case I reckon Great stuff that legends were made from!!!

Watching alot of older vids off that site, there is passing on the grass and hits from the grass aplenty, so though the hit on 8S would be dodgy as now, it was probably just blurring the lines back then. The pull out hit was awesomely timed, and would have been fully legal then.. but i dont really know about now.

It certainly was a HOT Teams Race, Perry & Rex were out in the first corner, leaving Baypark down to two cars, Ian and Nellie did an awesome job, and by god Yes, those Stratford guys were TOUGH and darn Loud in the referee's room afterwards...it was some time before the drivers of both teams mended their wounds not only physical ones (Nellie got a broken foot out of his efforts) and personal.....it was a subject of many a heated debate. Yes, both sides did it wrong, Dr John went through the infield from one side to the other during the race, a definate no, no, Nellie cut the pole, probably yes, not intentional maybe but the commitment was made to go down the inside and that is what he did....was it a good race, YES AWESOME THE CROWD LOVED IT..and get those big wings. If you keep watching stockcarscene over the next few months you should see quite a lot of older footage, I have 52 video's in total for Wal to choose from and lots of them are Brian Murray's video's who has agreed that Wal can use them, so there will be heaps coming up of Baypark. It's great looking back at the old stuff....boy showing my age

Yes - that's there, but you need to give Wal time - it is a huge job for him and we just appreciate the time he is taking to preserve some history so that it can be enjoyed by many...lots more action to come so keep clickin on stockcarscene
