I was reading the Team GB notice & saw how they are all competing for the right to have a silver top. They do the same in cycling where there are yellow shirts for the leaders or another for king of the mountain. I think the idea has some merit in New Zealand. eg a certain badge or colourscheme on part of a car to indicate that they are a national or club champion. In essence extending the 1NZ theme a lot further. I know there was quite a lot the speedway fraternity went through then & would not be keen to see a repeat but I am interested in hearing other opinions on this.

I'd keep it the way it is.
Drivers spend enough on their cars to decide how to design them. Car colour can also help re-inforce sponsorship.
I feel the 1nz is recognisable in it's current form and I don't believe we need anything else to supplement this.

Agreed Percy, I think the colours work in the UK where they don't have clashing meetings for the F1's for example, so the Gold or Silver top will usually be out at any meeting and is easy to spot, but the NZ1 is clear enough on our cars to spot if he or she is racing at your track on that given night. In the F1's at least, ALL of the cars have their roof colour dictated, whether it be white, yellow, blue, red, silver or gold. I'm not sure if they still have the flashing lights for the superstars. Drivers may have to change the colour of their roof more than once in a season, and I don't think it'd catch on here. The colours there relate to grading, whites to the front, then yellows etc on down, and we don't race like that here so there's no real point.

I think Mr 1nz Malcolm Ngatai has the Idea run a yellow wing with Metalman on it and 2nz runs a silver one and 3nz runs a bronze do coloured ranking thing

Why colourise the rankings if you have 1NZ, 2NZ, 3NZ on the cars already. Chances are there could be more people colour blind out there than those who don't know basic number sequences starting from 1. ;D

I'd like to extend it a little. Something on the car somewhere to indicate if they are the Auckland, Waikato, Rotorua champ in their class so if I was at a big meet I (& everyone else) would be able to identify them immediately. Something only the track champion could use (at their discretion of course).
