To first time poster perhaps it should be recomended they stay away from porn sites prior to posting thus having a full supply of blood (& therefore oxygen) to the brain. The meeting may not have had the sparkle of the previous exceptional meetings, but the Robin Pratt memorial which always delivers (the its name sake) made the meeting worth while in itself. Cheers, BL

Heres an idea re ministocks,if there is(and sure is)30odd cars racing each meeting, why not have as said before between 5pm-7pm say 3 heats, top 15-20 cars race for feature race, maybe say race 4 then they can watch the meeting. The idea of racing for overall feature win is great for building skills.
Agree the class can be boring, but these kids have to start somewhere, and if speedway doesn't grab them gocarts, motorcross etc will do,then they're lost.

New Robin Pratt Memorial champion 557P Darrel Wallace ("Soss") #1 Tank Commander, 2nd placegetter 31P Gary Davis, Soss, 3rd placegetter 97P Mr Ward and members of Robin Pratt's family. #97P Mr Ward has a new sponsor this season. A win in the feature race and the cars all set for next week. Cool.

I agree, this is a great idea and I would love to see it happen. But I think the implementation would be difficult, from an organisational viewpoint. Mostly because officials, fire crews, St Johns, gate staff, vehicle checkers etc would all have to be present an extra two hours on a Saturday afternoon to make this happen. And remember, lots of these people are volunteers.

What a waste of $20 going to this meeting. First race was superstocks on a drenched track, no traction and was a waste of a race. Ministocks there in numbers again, but I guess at least they kept it to only the youths tonight. When will Robertson and Puk realise that people cant stand watching them. Big fields of them, which is great for the drivers, but boring as hell to watch. They can't get past the first corner without a pile up, and you spend the next 5 minutes watching the tow trucks trying to untangle them. About time they started running them in heats, and starting them prior to the main races, i.e between 5 and 7pm or something, with maybe a feature race during the main programme. At least then the youths could watch their heros race. Ministocks are just ruining PN speedway. The crowd goes to sleep, there is no atmosphere. Pathetic, but as I said, at least we only had youths tonight as opposed to both youths and adults You dont know how lucky you's are in NZ,Best stockcar racing in the World and people still manage to have a cry. Harden up mate, you mustnt have any idea how much time money and effort it takes to get a car on the track and run it for a night Bit more than your $20

We did 3 races last night with only 1 red light (for a roll over), had about 24 cars I think.
Car that rolled was a newbie and on the in field.

Just my 2c worth-how about some credit to Darryl Wallace for beating a huge-and strong- field. great to see another guy who seemed able to get on the pace with the frontrunners pretty much as soon as he started racing the 557 car. Speaking of which, have been impressed by a few relatively unknown guys showing a lot of speed in the superstock ranks at palmy. James Soane, Robin Davenport and Bevan humphrey all cranking along-good to see.

Have to agree it wasn't the best of meetings so far this season, but that's just the way it is... you take the good with the bad.The stockcar boys put on a great 3rd race which made the evening worth while. What about the superstocks from last night. Apart from Rees smacking Hemi into the wall in the last race there wasn't much else apart from good hard/fast, little contact racing(similar to the ministocks). ............but No body has moaned about them At times you don't need to have all the huge hits and smashes to see a good nights racing to watch. kiwiguy220..... i guess you are one of the "smash the P" supporters that cant wait to have a moan about anything concerning Palmerston North/Panthers I guess if you don't see at least one roll per race, cars climbing over the wall all night and the fence posts getting ripped to bits its a boaring night for you? Go spent your $20 else where on a Saturday night.

Gee , I didn't realise there were so many one eyed people in Palmy . Scary Read the post again , then decide if there is any validy to it and if there is then consider if something could be improved to make the speedway experience even better . If the opinion isn't valid say why but to attack the person and not the points made is a pretty weak response.
Remember , a lot of what happens at a meeting is viewed entirely different depending on which side of the fence you're sitting and/or your involvement with speedway. I'm never happy when a paying customer is told to go elsewhere apart from very rare extreme exceptions .
Rant over .

I have to agree with our leader re the posts and comments re the ministocks and what has been put across
Personally I enjoy watching the youth go at it in full fields most weeks. you tend to learn who is who and see them when you also travel. However when it comes to PN and running both grades of ministocks then this certainly seems to push the limits of many punters based on many a comment seen on here.
Personally if I see both grades on the program it does not please me and may make a difference in deciding to travel from Napier or not. Very nearly did not go to last W248 for this reason as the Superstocks can also be quite boring at times (not last time thank god)
When money is tight, you tend to get fussier and want the most for your dollar so you get more selective on which meetings to attend
So while the original post that generated some of this fuss could have been put better, the message is still the same and one persons opinion which is often stated and expressed by many others.
