And Auckland about the same, although at least they ran theirs with half a dozen Saloons doing double duty to make up a decent sized field for the many fans. It's one thing for some promotions to disagree with series such as the SSCAR, but when 15 Super Saloons are spread over 3 tracks within 2 hours of each other, both the competitors and the public are missing out.
Anyway, back to the subject........

The competitors who put in the effort, organise themselves and show up when the show starts (opening nights) should be rewarded and those who fail do do so, penalised. Short of two broken legs, a broken arm - no excuses, you're on half prize money / half points for the rest of the season! We've all got excuses, but for the most part, they are just that! If these late comers were catching plane for Fiji they would be on time, and if they weren't, they'd miss out! If you contract to a promoter for a season of racing, that is what you should be doing!

Stockars numbered 16 to start with, but were the hotdog class of the night - only 6 finished one race (and not because of hard hits)! Good win to Karl Hanlon in the Supers, but someone surely has waved the ugly stick over his car over the winter. Track condition still deciding winners and contributing to the DNF's

A good night to catch up with others in the stands i haven't seen since last season. A last being able to renew the sensations of smell, sight, sound, touch and taste (dirt/clay dust) of speedway The racing appeared to be a good shakedown practice for those that turned up to race. It was sad to see the usual turn 3 mogals appear on the first night of the season, but otherwise the track seemed in good condition from the stands. I took some friends along who have just move here from USA & they gave it the thumbs up and were telling everyone about it this morning when i saw them. So I guess they'll come back - Wait till they see a really good night of racing! Speaking of no excuses for late comers Murray: which flight to Fiji did "son-in-law" catch? I thought I would have seen your "For Sale" car round to advertise to potential buyers - even if it was just parked the pits not being raced.

... Speaking of no excuses for late comers Murray: which flight to Fiji did "son-in-law" catch? ... Kyle and 13m are one of the few with a reasonable explanation for non-appearance at Bayparks opening. Not a happy chappy, being he thought, all ready to rumble! Dick Davidson Motors discovered in the processes of final engine checks 2 weeks ago a 'cracked head' and subsequent bore and valve damage. It is being repaired! But for the fact that my sponsors (Valvoline and GOFAST) were at Huntly along with myself, I likely would have made the car (13r) available to Kyle to race. Looking at DNF's, like Huntly, maybe it was a good thing he wasn't out on the track. This Wednesday 4th we have Kihikihi Opening with fireworks, Rotorua on Friday - if the car's still mobile perhaps it might be seen at Baypark on the Saturday?

Great to see you race Murray, you will be a sad loss to speedway when you do retire. Your at different tracks around the country when asked or just turn up to provide the entertainment. I'm just a follower of the sport since a I was a small fella so I guess that will mean 44 years of watching WOW. Love to race but never been able to afford it, so I leave it up you guys (no pun intended). By the way I thought you would be older having never see you out a helmet on . Thanks for the entertainment. Phill B
