Are they still allowed full contact? And if they are not, why are there these and Production Saloons at alot of tracks rather than just one non contact budget class?
I first saw Ministocks at Stratty about 10 years ago. The kids races were before the meeting, and the adults were during the meeting and were full contact (putting the stockcars to shame even) with Royden and many other big names guesting. I was told that Adults must share their car with a Youth who runs it premeeting. It sounded great as a budget/intro class, but now it seems there are 3 or more classes (boy racer.. 1/4 Midgets) to cover budget/intro around the country and not too many spectators want to see that many.

No. All Ministocks are no contact. Which is exactly the way they should stay. People get injured in Stockcars let alone in Ministocks with thinner role cages and bumpers etc

The only thing i thought of was perhaps a shared Father/Kid/Siblings drive but noone seems to do that much anymore.

Well I guess thats where F2s would fit in. Hit 2 pass (if you have to) and no follow ins. They seem like a good idea to fill the gap between youth ministocks and adults who dont want the bash'n'crash of stockies.

In Christchurch do the kids ministocks run at a different track to the adult ministocks? If so it must make sharing a car very difficult.

The Youth class races at Ruapuna and Adults at Woodford Glen, and I agree Ministocks should be full contact

I believe that the reason for racing Adult Ministocks is so that people like myself who "graduated" last year from Youth Ministocks can keep there cars and carry on. It makes sense to be honest.. So you don't have to buy a completely new car, adjust to new rules, driving style etc. And because its easy for a Parent to race as well has having their child race in the Youth.

yes,joker.........that's where F2's fit. An ideal next class for kids outgrowing ministox..........hit-to-pass contact allowed...........graded starts for good close racing. As well as established drivers, who want to be able to hit-without the full on stockcar contact. IMO............ministocks are a great,well-thought introductory class FOR KIDS..........adult ministocks have no place in mainstream(Saturday night)speedway. Vic Neal

Im Pretty sure Adult ministocks have paved the way for some really great stock car drivers and other class drivers - its almost like a learning class get a real feel for racing etc.... and given the fact that there are actually alot of people who have raced in the class and are still racing in that class i wouldnt say it doesnt belong on a saturday night racing and its defantly not "pointless"

Vic Neal Well said nrp165 , I totally agree , as miniskirts should be for kids or even JUST a feeder class to stock cars , should only be allowed to spend 3 or 4 years in this grade and then move up . With some people it may be a cost thing , but at our track there is a wally who carry's his mini-SKIRT around in a bus , he does't realize how ridiculous he is when he pull's up in his bus and this pathetic little thing comes out the back for a grown man to drive

It does affect the sport quite alot as a whole. My family was humming and haaing whether to go to Woodford Glenns fireworks night, but once we saw on the site that Adult Ministocks AND Production Saloons were stood down, it was a no brainer to go. It was a good night, the racing wasnt overly spectacular, but because of the lack of Hotdog classes and amazing fireworks, it made the overall night excellent.

Adult mini stocks are in my eyes the most boring and unentertaining racing going.Mini stocks are for the young up and coming speedway drivers to get started in ,Then its time to move up to bigger and brighter things.
