Kihikihi deserve to do well. Not exactly the Vegas of the North Island so to survive, they have to think outside the square, do a Gizzy, and create a 'point of difference' to attract the competitor and the punter. On arrival it was glaringly obvious a huge effort has been put in to the track prep and the infrastructure infield. Absolutely brilliant! My elation turned to despair in the first saloon race. Mike Wilson, everybody's friend in time of need, having carried out a few steering enhancements on my car pre-race in the pits, has a coming together with me between turns one and two! A bent bottom RHS arm allows me to continue (of sorts) but regretfully Mike has a broken axil and is out for the rest of the meeting. Race two and three the original owner of my car (albeit it 20 or so years ago) Maurice Cowling Monaro 271, makes me look like I'm parked up with a great display of racing! Better to be humiliated by an 'old master' I guess, than by either of his two youthful / skilful offspring, or both! Dozens if kids participated in the 'build a guy' competition. The fireworks were awesome. I think all of Kihikihi were either inside the speedway or lining the streets around it! A few pics (35 last count) ..... Team Kihikihi - A great evening of speedway family fun!Heat one race ...
See U Rotorua this Friday - May the fireworks continue!

Thanks for the tip there Gh - some great shots. Looks like there is some substantial banking around the turns, is this all round the track? ANd does anyone have a good wide angle pic of the entire track and infeild? Welll done kihikihi, looks like a good start for your big season. And some flash looking stockcars there allright

Anyone got any info on the Mike Wilson car, looks like a Supra. What engine does this run ? Looks like it gives the V8's a run for their money on KK track. Any info appreciated or Mikes details to PM. Thanks
