Great crowd for a great show is the easiest way to sum up Rotorua opening. Some good racing , some frivolity and an awesome fireworks display all played a part providing a value for money family night out . 15 Superstocks , 19 Stockcars , 10 saloons , 5 Modifieds , 1 Rodney Wood and good numbers in the other classes . If the rotorua club had been worried about whether they would get a crowd for their opening night they needn't have been . Not so happy would be the superstock 8r camp

Huge crowd, 3 paddocks of cars. Outstanding fireworks, good racing, big ups to the visiting Mods from Auckland, and to Mr Wood for his displays and a new track record I believe.

Good to see a genuine macgorian tee in the crowd Home ground advantage. I would imagine you'd see a lot of them there.

Rotorua Speedway - What a B.........Y incredible night of speedway family entertainment.
The most amazing track was prepared for competitors, the most amazing and varied program put on for the spectators. Ol' Stan in his super stock taking out the infield demo car to explode on impact had more than one punter let of a series of expletives (swear words) A few in-car stills ... Videos in the photo section. 'Saloon re-enactment of One Flew out of the Cookoo Nest' ... macgor.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=photos&thread=12101&page=1

Is that you Petrolhead with the genuine MacGorian Teeshirt? Well done Rotorua team! Did anyone see Ngahi there - usually sits turn two, three terrace rows up, 11 paces in from end! Where are you bro, Macgors is not the same without you and save my seat for the 240's!

Great to see the crowd there. How many does paradise valley hold? What's with the kids sitting on the fence? Looks like bigger than normal crowd if all three paddocks were full. I'd say Paradise Valley can hold 9 and half thousand hitting 10.

Thanks to the Auckland Modified guys for travelling down and racing for us. To Rodney.........come back and light up the Sprintcar anytime ;D ;D

Perhaps Spintcars can be a semi-regular demo class maybe three sprinties max strutting their stuff? Ngahi must be overseas. There's something about a patch of grass on the infield that makes the track look well presented.

14.1 lap on first blat on worn tyres. Got down into 13 second bracket in run after meeting but timing system failed. As far as I know sprintcars did not have a lap record at the track so Rodney being the first to run there has now set a lap record for sprintcars Foxy did however set a new lap record for mods that was nearly 1/2 a second better than the record he set last year. This is a reflection of the great work the club has done in improving the track surface as promised last year. Good on them and with improved surface it should make for great racing in the BOP champs coming up in a few weeks time when the Stratty boys will join in with the Auckland boys to hopefully put on a decent show.
