Hi everyone
A debate is happening in the Far North clubs.....
For many years it has been an unwritten rule at both Taipa and Kaikohe, that a passing car has to be up to the 'B' pillar before it has 'right of way'. What do other clubs think about this rule? We would love to hear your feedback......

I believe the saloon regs are the car in front, so you have to get your nose in front to get right of way; stockcars there is no right of way, thats what makes them fun.

Its not always easy to see someone on your quarter so are you saying that unless they are in front that they don't have right of way?

How about this thinking...
When the 'B' Pillar of the passing car is forward of the other car's front bumper; should the other car yield the racing line? This is the theory of the staggered grid rolling start. Otherwise the outside cars get pushed out into the weeds at the first corner.

After a quick look in the racing rules, it would appear that since you cant CROWD,CUT-IN or FORCE another vehicle OFF-COURSE you dont have right-of-way until you are in front.

Sorry, the racing rules for the non-contact saloon classes apply equally to all cars (as above), including the lead car.The pillar reference applies to bitumen racing. Regardless, saloon racing rules are rarely applied, including rules applying to starts, indian file, crowding, boring, etc.

If every driver stuck to the rule of keeping the racing line, then there shouldn't be an issue of having to give "right of way".

might make those proddies more interesting to watch ;D
they are almost street stocks anyway...
but when they get a little rough, I notice some of the biggest offenders are the first to moan about damage....

If every driver stuck to the rule of keeping the racing line, then there shouldn't be an issue of having to give "right of way". well my racing line, even in non contact racing is to go from the apex sliding out toward the wall.. so if someone is on the outside of me? keep to my racing line and stuff him, send him into the fence? The quickest way around the track is using the whole track in most motorsports. You watch someone like Foxy or Wako's line change dramatically once they get a clear run. I think that there has to be a time that you know you are beat and to conceed to the pass.
