The good - a well run meeting with plenty of good racing that was all over shortly after 10pm. And as an added highlight 63A put the Wade tank on its lid The bad - the superstock and super saloon fields were a bit light but provided some good racing nonetheless. The track was dusty late in the meeting but didn't rut up. The ugly - a sprinkle of rain early in the meeting, and how blardy cold it was. The verdict - Waikaraka's turnaround continues.

Thats a pretty fair review.
Stand outs, 61 Roy Walker in the saloons and the cold. Been going to WP since it opened and last night was probably the coldest. No amount of hot food and hot drink worked. Not a bad crowd for a Friday. 10pm finish spot on, like to keep it that way.

Was a little chilly for sure - the heats showed Foxy, Macca and Roy Walker were the quickest in their respective non-contact grades, yet all 3 started their Feature race from pole Seeing them forced to drive through the field a little could have warmed the fans a tad, but was pleased to see 10 locally registered Super Saloons turn out, even with Lance Jennings MIA. The Mods will certainly lift a level when the Taranaki boys come to town, and was rapt to hear Roy Walker say he was travelling to Welly and Baypark for the major titles later in the season. 3 from 3 last night was good practise.

Who was driving the 63a Superstock that took out the Wade tank?, i'm sure a payback will be on the cards in the future!

Difficult situation at the moment Barry. Prizemoney on offer in first 2 meetings has been next to nothing in every class and this has affected formats. I believe the saloons and super saloons had a format where no money was paid on first two heats and the small amount available was all on the feature race (similar to the Springs format). Heat 1 was marble draw and reversed for heat 2. Top points went from the front in the feature. Not great viewing for the crowd but these cars do not run on fresh air so any and all prize money helps make a difference. Mods on the other hand put their money on an overall result to a championship format. Marble draw heat 1 and basically a front middle back deal. Foxy's rear start was heat 1 which gave him pole for the feature. Just luck I suppose. With nothing on the extra race at the end we agreed to an Indian file grid with Foxy leaving from last. Made it a little more interesting for the crowd. Until prizepool on normal nights gets back to normal they really can't start handicapping again.

;D Thanks Waikaraka Great night had by Team Ansty Racing Arrived 4.30pm greeted, unloaded car, greensheeted, checked we had made changes to the car OK signed off clear to race. First time Deon had sat in the car and driven it was turning it around in the car park. 1st race was always going to be "lets just see what happens" lucky he started at the back. 4 donuts later the race finished 8th. 2nd race off the front leading going like a bat out of hell until he lost his line but finished 3rd. 3rd race some how got to the front and cleared away up until the tank went over then again lost his line and finished 2nd. Any way thanks to WP good track, great food and coffee, the place is looking great and the program is something to be proud of. Dave A

I understand Jamo, none of the format's were explained to the crowd so we were in the dark there. So for the Mods, at least, the "feature" was actually Ht 3, makes more sense now. Didn't see the last (Mods 4th) race as was on the way to the car to thaw out when I heard it announced.

The 4th Mod race was a bonus, Team WP have been working on some things to get the races though more quickly, this combined with few incidents saw us way ahead of program. The mods approached the bench asking whats the chance of an extra skid. The crowd weren't leaving, which was surprising given it was a cool night, and the mod guys were keen, there you have it, everyones a winner. A positive end to a good night at WP

Thats correct, 63a last night was driven by Wayne Marx, ex Std Stock racer from a few seasons ago. Was meant to be Bill Clarkson Jnr, but he had to be elsewhere. The engine in 63a needed to be run in so Wayne took to the wheel and did an excellant job. In fact it was the first time ever that all 3 of us were out on the track at the same time. He showed that he hasn't lost any of his touch in car control and hopefully he will be able to have another go at some point later in the season. I'll hopefully get so updates on our site tomorrow, but for now....go the All Whites!
