Not sure where the cars have gone. BP used to have big numbers in their 5 classes. This year, mega mini stocks, good saloon numbers (18 last meet, usually mid 20's) Half doz super saloons (the stars are away as they are this week in Huntly), 14 stocks for round 1 of the Hauraki series. Very little action. The stock car class was wanting some meets that was all about them, but now haven't supported it. Sprintcars: 13 last week and three were from Auck. What does this leave when WS have international cars? What is happening at BP? Car numbers are dropping in all classes (but ministocks). Why? Can some one tell? Geez mate get over it. if you go every week its gonna get boring. because its the same 2 heats & feature... pick your meets at baypark when you know its gonna be good & good numbers (ie Super prix, Ni sprinters, NZ Saloons) rather than paying $20 every week and moan there is a lack of numbers... Try going to some different tracks ie huntly or Auckland next weekend for ssscar round 2.. if you want to see good racing you have to travel to the events more so in the Super saloon class..

one of the reasons there were very little stockcars in round 1 of the series for the stockcars is that there was alot of carnage at the gold cup the previous weekend that put alot of cars out. i think 14 cars is still a good turn out.
every track has its ups and downs in numbers, not much you can do about it when the cars are damaged or the drivers are damaged.

Well said. Admittedly numbers at BP are down on last year, but when you look around the other tracks, some of their numbers aren't too flash either. A bit of variety in classes run wouldn't go amiss, however.

LOL Yeah, it looks that way but you really have to see Baypark Stockcars race to understand. The track is so big that they spread out so there is little contact there, but also it is quite a difficult track to do much but spin people if they choose to race close to you. The track is very wide and if you try to wall someone, you have to push them so far across the track to touch the wall that there is no momentum left. The wall is flat, and i think in about 15 meetings of going there, ive only seen 1 car get hung off the wall. You will see people hassling Baypark cars about not hitting, but it takes alot more skill than any other track to pull off a decent hit there. The track more often than not, when i was racing would cut up, so you would get a few rolls tho, when people hit bad ruts.. some thru popped tires. Alot of tires pop there in most classes. The feature race used to normally see less than half the start field take the grid, mostly due to track damage rather than car hits, and the fact Bayparks race turnaround is very quick (4-5 classes and a 10pm curfew), which means even relatively small damage could see you miss a race. You really do need a big (20+) field to keep it interesting thru the whole night. I havent been there in about 2 years so a bit of that may have changed. We used to like racing there, and while i did mix it up a little, kinda used the rough track as a rumble test. If it lasted the night there, it would be sweet everywhere else.

I'm not going to complain about the stockcars last week.
14 cars out there was a little dissappointing but stockcars at BayPark do have a go at each other most races. They know what their bumpers are for unlike many others.
Yes, there are a lot of open spaces, no you don't see many cars sitting on the wall - but more than a few end up hitting it.
The first race there seemed to be a bit of agro. I enjoyed the racing last week.

Not sure what the weather is doing in the Mount (overcast and dry in Ohope), but with Vegas and Huntly cancelled maybe numbers may have been quite special at BP.
If only we all had a crystal ball.

"Good call" in the end as it was wet here in Tauranga like most places. No racing anyway!
