Well what an awesome weekend...............Woodford Glen on the 5th of December with the Thunders and Murfz1 and Badnews going down as support cars in the open Races.
Saturday started early with the loading of the Transporter and cars ready for the trek to Christchurch.
Murfz1 up the Top, Badnews on the lower deck first (Andre Evans), and Ben Keys car done up in the Thunder attire.
We were lucky enough to get Austin Transport to supply their Tractor Unit to tow the cars to Christchurch, Brian is a major sponsor of Murfz1 Racing and his support is much appreciated. If you ever need to hire a Truck or Truck and Trailer give him a call on 027 5577590.
The heads were turning from Nelson to Woodford Glen what an awesome sight on the road.
Murchison for Coffee and Breakfast an a regroup of the travelers as the odd breakdown of tow cars occurred.....Brad your shout......... we were pleased to be of assistance.
Well we all got to Christchurch and the scene was set...the weather was great.
The thunders went out and went down to the Glen Eagles but not without a fight....well done Ben you did us proud.
Well Race 8 was the first of the stand alone stockcar races and what a field 32 cars on the track and little old me (Andrew) drawn in the middle, ****.......did I really want to do this!!!!!! Hell yes and into it. This was the car with new improve power steering setup completely untried.
Well into it and what a ball...............traffic everywhere and yes I was pleased we were purple not yellow because anything yellow was a target!!!
Our car performed well and finished in the top 10, with no problems maybe we had solved the pulley gremlins.
Race 2 was next and guess what on outer pole and thinking better get to the first bend first or I am in the poo........... well everything went to plan and into the corner first. Yeah I am in the lead shivers better start peddling fast............the car was just loving the track and out there doing it. Then the bloody red lights one after the other and the top Christchurch cars creeping up on the red .
That Pooh Bear (Peter Ross) his experience shined though and yes you guessed taken out on a restart spun and dropped back in the placings , hole the outer front tire and managed to finish , the car a bit of a handful to get around the corners but hey we finished the second race and what a buzz... to lead for a while.
Well Race 3 and down the back of the grid time to have some more fun if that was possible..............into it and having a ball, got right into it and used the front bumper to good effect for the first time with one of the Christchurch boys being spun out the back yahoo I can do it.
We completed all 3 races and drove off each time, really happy with the new power steering and pulley setup, just a little work to do one the fan.
All the boys were buzzing and Lee of course, we ended up back at the units with the young ones off to town and the oldies sitting around and drinking the odd rum, bourbon and beers. What a great team we had in Christchurch for any of you guys out there if you get the chance we would suggest travel with the team to events and enjoy the racing and after match function.
