Why aren't you running a Superstock meeting to catch some of the cars that are planning on being at HB...Teams Race sounds ok...but nothing in that mix to get Stockcars/Superstocks to attend unless you are putting up some good prizemoney or travel.

"unless you are putting up some good prize money or travel."Should racing be ALL bout the money ... ALL the time ??

Wake up and smell the roses....money is at the core of life unfortunately....your club wants to make profits, how do they make profits? They rely on competitors bringing a show to the track for the public TO PAY to see, who should get the money.....not just the club taking the majority - it should be shared. There lies the mentality of many clubs round NZ, you believe you have the right to minimise what the competitor does, sure the competitor wants to race and after 30 odd years within the speedway fraternity I can name about 5 clubs that we have been involved with that look after their drivers (who make their profits) some of you should look into how Rotorua & Palmerston North look after competitors for example....how often do you see them with a lack of competitors on a promotable meeting.
Some clubs value the competitor, not just financially...I can remember many years ago we went to Stratford to race when we were registered with Rotorua, there was about 5 of us..while we were there a representative from our home track came and seen us all and gave each competitor from Rotorua $100 each for travelling away to represent their club...that was one of the most memorable things over our years of competitive racing.
If you haven't got competitors puttin on the show, you ain't got a show to get some profits. Most definately the competitor is entitled to share the $$'s as well as the club/promotor.

Not all clubs have the $$$$ to just splash out here there and every where tho. I feel sorry for these little clubs that cant compete money wise with the likes of palmy and rotovegas as those tracks will be the ones that end up killing these smaller tracks. Dont get me wrong It would be awesome if all the clubs around could afford to look after there drivers more than they do, but at the end of the day the money you get from the club is nice and it helps but its not why you got into the sport is it?

I dont know why Topcat is getting so into Gizzy about this.. In my opinion they are just putting it out there as an add on to cap off your weekend, (Much like Kihikihi used to) and it is the Sidecars show for a change, and practically a club night for stockcars other than the team and 2Ks team. It is cool getting prize and travel money, but the Stockcar part of this meet will be celebrations about Gizzy winning the NZs... and then promptly losing to Kihikihi ;D

I am not getting into Gizzy, you are missing the point...
The comment was made... Should racing be ALL bout the money ... ALL the time ?? No, we all know racing isn't all about the money, for those of you that know, there is no-way any prizemoney covers anywhere the cost of competing, competitors compete because the love good competitive racing with good fields.
It's makes no difference whether a track is small or big, you are running a business, not a charity, the core element of the show you sell IS THE COMPETITORS, as far as my comment about the 4th, there will be competitors from round the NI that would be attending the NI Champs in Napier, if there was an element of travel or something and a special event had been planned to feature the Superstocks, the Gisborne Club would have profited from the effort, there are a huge amount of holiday makers here at that time.
You are correct, I think in the end tracks like Auckland, Huntly, Palmy, Rotorua, Wellington and Baypark will survive in the North Island - but it will be because they are central, less travelling, run x amount of promotable events each season focusing on when the public are around to put their bums on seats.
Gisborne , is isolated, the cost of travelling here is expensive without accommodation etc, they will always suffer in that respect, it's still one of the best tracks in NZ but it will never get the following like some other tracks because of it's isolation.

It is Gizzy that want to attract Superstocks for the 4th but they add the bit it shouldn't be about money all the time Ok some points 1 Gizzy is a bit isolated It is just after christams and straight after a gruelling 2 days in Hawkes Bay a lot of drivers will be feeling the pinch financially and physically. man its hard enough trying to drive the Meeanee track without the contact like a boat a rough seas. If a little incentive was offered and Gizzy know of dreivers that are keen they can promote it and those extra bums on the seat through good promotion should cover the cost of the 'incentive' for the drivers in theory that's how it should work

Maybe the post was directed to spectators and not drivers ...
Hence the addition of "Jazz and Blues Festival"
If the club thought they could attract a decent crowd I'm sure they would have actively chased the Superstocks and created a meeting.
Most R&V kids have gone by the 4th, most families are camping at the beach, and is there really any money left from Xmas?
A Superstock meeting would be great BUT "Costs v Gate", I think would be hard to recover at this time of year...

We have just been talking over the possibility of a trip to Gisborne on the 4th. For us the inclusion of Superstocks would not be an added attraction at all. What we have seen Gisborne do best at tracks we have seen their competitors is, Sidecars, a feature on the program, all good. Streetstocks, they have some excellent drivers in this class, also on the program. And of course they are beginning to excel at stockcar teams racing, another feature of the program. Well done Gisborne, on putting together a good program of events at a time when there are so many other demands on drivers time.
I know there is the odd fanatic that things a meeting is not a real meeting unless there are Superstocks, but in my experience most of the general visitors to speedway couldn't give a monkey's as long as they like what they see.
