Next weekend is the running of one of Speedways premier classes in speedway, the Super Saloons and yet there has been very little posted about this event from either Huntly or the Macgors tribe. So maybe I can spark some comment. Last year there was lots of talk about the track in cromwell which turned out to be fantastic and really drivey thanks to Scumaaka. So a few questions to hopefully start the discussions flowing : Will the Huntly track hold up over two nites ? Last nite was probably the best track of the season but how will it cope with Supers, Midgets and Minisprints on the 2nd nite Will there be tshirts available for this event ? What is Huntly doing over and above the running of a normal meet ? Will there be additional commentators involved such as Barry Brown or others to assist with with driver interviews etc ? After last nite can anyone beat 1NZ ? What sort of souveneir programme will be available ? Perhaps Mintie or someone from the club can enlighten us. This is one of the meetings that I look forward to each year and have not missed the last four so I am really looking forward to next weekend

After last nite can anyone beat 1NZ ? Yes 1nz was Fast but he started Row 1 or Row 2 all night so he didnt get to do much passing. Would hae loved to see him start off back. But yes 1nz has to rank a great chance at retaining 1nz.

yes 1st up best dressed but we had some very naughty boys that turned up unannounced which meant we had to split the Ltd's out into there own races which through out the whole program. red was not happy .but he got over it ;These guys put on a good show with very professional driving & close .1nz breaking the track record for saloons .lance blew his trans in race 2 & drove his old car 94a in last race .fastest its ever been ;D ray stewart strugling there didn't seem to be on the pace .Aussie may have to go up a gear set seemed to be over reaving .if the weather stays this way for next week with plenty of water going in we are going to have a grunt track (drivey) 1nz /24m/ 38h/31mh/& 96a hooking up well last nite. just remember if you want to run at huntly you have to let your rep no by Wednesday before racing its a club rule & no augments like last nite or you stay on trailer .do not ring my yard that excuse doesn't wash .my contact details are on huntlys site or pm me supers/saloon rep porry .sermon over

Will there be additional commentators involved such as Barry Brown or others to assist with with driver interviews etc ? On the Waikato Super Saloon Champs night I spoke with Mal Sines about pre-recording some driver interviews (say at scrutineering) on a fancy little device B Sport Radio has loaned me over the holiday break, and playing them back during the period when much of the crowd is rolling in but the drivers are committed at their pre-race briefing session. Mal already has the playback equipment in the commentary box, so that may happen if the offer is taken up. We actually did a test recording that night, but I stuffed it up so we never used it. I'm not sure what is happening commentary-wise outside of that however, although the two Waikato clubs have been discussing working together in a couple of areas that would see Huntly borrow Kihikihi's 2 roving mics (giving Huntly 3 for the NZ Super Saloon weekend) and Huntly's roving mic and FM transmitter going to Kihikihi for the NZ Superstocks meeting. On Friday morning, January 8th, between 11am and noon, they'll be a 1 hour preview of the event on B Sport nationwide. Drivers on the show will include defending 2009 champion Shane McIntyre, 2008 champion Brent Emerson, 2006 champion Steve Williams and top SI hope Richie Taylor. They'll also be tickets to the event given away on the show.

I would like to put up a 'dark horse' for this event and happy to put a can of coke on the line.
51A Darren Pennington
Lots of years in saloons coming from domination years ago in the Auckland dirt track scene (Meremere, Waiuku etc) and very up and down last few years in speedway. This season he has been a lot more consistent, fast and I know he has been asking a lot of wise heads in the pits and getting some great advice. Couple that with experience, like I say, a dark horse.
As far as the track surface for the 2 days, rest easy, the club is in the hands of a freak track man, named Red. This boy is VERY good.

Thanks for the info Barry, very interesting. Although Red may not have been happy I am sure that he like I enjoyed the number of Supers racing and like Porry enjoyed the racing and professionalism being put on.
Hope someone can assist with info on what merchandise will be available to buy, thanks in advance.
PS That was an amazing roll by the two midgets and pleased that they were both able to walk away from the accident

Emerson has an engine to rebuild between now and then......
podium finishers will be 1nz, 21h and either 7m or 24m.

Just wonder if Huntly and other tracks that are holding NZ, NI, SI and GP titles can organise lap data like they do in Gisborne and post on here as it happens, so much easier to follow than Txt messages which can sometimes be different from one txter to another. Dont get me wrong any thing we get is good but if we have one track in Nz that can do it others should at least look into it, i am sure Jason in Gisborne would only be to keen to help set it up.

Enjoyed txt other day richard. Other tracks in NZ should race transponders. Competitors would be able to find out their lap times, disputes are usually easy to solve etc. This can only be a bonus really to competitors. The line up for jan 4 is great but suppose as you're an "aussie" now you'll be an aussie backer.I won't hold that against you but i'm backin the nz team. Wish you were here to see it

Competitors would be able to find out their lap times, disputes are usually easy to solve etc. All tracks do run electronic lap scoring, they have to, but only Gisborne post the information on macgor's, I think that's what the comments refer to. It's still only as good as the information loaded, the transmitters working and the refereeing decisions however, as it didn't help Gisborne avoid the NI Saloon title going to appeal last season after incorrect decisions were made at the track on the night.
