Last time I went to Island Park (which was a while ago) I got a lovely $50 bill in the mail from St Johns for the compulsory after roll check, where no attention was needed. Several phone calls later this was waived cos the club was paying for them to be there.

The clubs should be able to budget for this cost and have it in their subs. Otherwise do the ambo's JUST treat the drivers and no one else? ? They can also apply for grants to cover the YEARLY cost of ambo's, if someone wants to do the paper work.

i can tell you island park wont be doing that we have the ambo payed for by a grant! and as for the sprint cars not being happy bout being pushed way out the back that fine coz that would also make a safty problm with ppl walking round etc but it also a very big safty problem with ppl trying to fix bent and brokn steal, changing tyres etc in the dark non of us care bout travel coz most of the streeties and stock cars hand it back any way!!!!!!

i would have thought someone from cromwell club would have been on here and explained the reasons for the ambo charge,no travel money and no pit lighting for the stockies-streeties etc seeing as i understand it cost 4 1/2k to have the sprintcar war of the wings series there

$5 must be a nice easy number to work with, they charged the same for spectators to get their cars in as well.

St John is private organization and not funded by anyone but themselfs,Dont blame tracks charging for st john fees more so the smaller tracks as im sure they have to pay abit to have them...

were the drivers charged an entry fee??
if they were, then bad form for not including St Johns as part of the entry fee.
if there was no entry fee, then poor form for not advising drivers of the surcharge.....................but extremely bad form for anyone who whinges at the cost .
having competed at MSNZ events for many years, it is something that is included in the entry fees, and fail to see why it isn't at speedway also?

at the end of the day all grades get there nz ,si,gp,and the list goes on ,so it dont matter who got 4 an half k for doin there thing .but been in the contact grade,an self empolyed i feel a lot beeter haveing the ambo sitting there at the pit gates,so whats $5 .so remember our tracks dw south need the support grades as numbers are not big in each grade but still put on a great nite raceing no matter what u are driving .

Thats not a bad price to have a volunteer first aider is it?? At least when a trained paramedic turns up who can really help it will be covered by acc. I think St Johns might be on to a good thing here. Do the Fire Service charge to have their volunteers there?

If they are 'on duty' and using Fire Service equipment then the answer is most likely yes.

I think St Johns might be on to a good thing here. Do the Fire Service charge to have their volunteers there? Nelson pay more than that per race meeting but it covers the ambulance, a full time paramedic and a minimum of 4 trained oficers. Often there are trainees as well. The crash fire crew are also paid even though they are staffed by volunteers. We do not use the fire service. Just because the staff are volunteers does not mean they are on to a good thing. The cost to provide the service is at least this especially when a hospital transfer is required as another ambulance and crew are dispatched as well. Remember St Johns is not a government funded organisation all though many are subsidised by their local DHB if they have the ambulance contrat with them. Weather or not a track asks drivers to pay towards this is I guess their perogative however it is something that most tracks would account for in their race meeting budgets. I know we consider this expense to be part of our normal running costs and is definately one that we would not consider scrimping on. St Johns do an awesome job with limited facilities and deserve every cent they get. Thanks volunteers for giving your time to help keep our drivers, officials and spectators safe.
