at the meetings at cromwell this new year the driverswere charged a $5 fee for the ambulance.all drivers had to pay it as far as i know, can only speak for stockcars and streetstocks for definate.is this legal??? does SNZ condone this type of fee?? others spoken to have never heard of this before and drivers spoken too were not happy at all.some said they would not support this club again and wont be back. and to top it off no one got paid out apperance money, not a good incentive to get drivers to travel to their track.

This has nothing to do with SNZ. This is organised at club level. It is the cubs responsibility to provide the first aid for the event. We all (drivers) pay for the service here in Gisborne, but we do get paid prize money also. (Not appearance money). You may find that your club is finding a way to fund a service that they are having to pay for. I don't see this as an unfair situation. It does cost to enjoy yourself.

we did,nt mine paying the $5 no ambo means no racin.an not only that its the 1st time they have ask us to pay as well ,i did,nt think tracks pay travel on champ meeting anyway, either way dose not bother us if we get travel or not.not sure about what other drivers think .at the end of the day had a good 3 day there an we will be goin back .

im not saying its not worth the donation or whatever as the ambo crews do a great job and are needed to run a meeting but what i belive is wrong is not telling drivers that they are charging the fee until they go up for sign in at clubrooms after they have been scruitennered. no tracks in the southern region charge this fee or pay prize money but normally pay apperance money to out of town non championship grades as cromwell have in the past. maybe drivers could be told of these changes a little earlier and how many drivers have money in their race overalls pockets at sign in? badly organized i think, next time tell drivers what they are getting or not getting before meetings

I seem to recall paying Ambulance fees backs as far as the mid 80's at some tracks. So I don't believe it is something new at all

At least we know what we are up for before we go in the gate.

bet one of the double trouble boys would have paid a little more to have someone to relay to the tower that he was thumbs down for over 2 laps of racing. maybe the fee was to cover the 15% holiday surcharge(just kidding) The meeting needed to have st johns it also needed a blackboard to put the sprint cars back into grid, took half an hour to restart the first race what a shamble what was that infield guy doin?? seen praying following night for no one to hit him i think, no other reason to be on your hands and knees 3 metres from the pole line.
did so many warm up and warm down laps on the first night that we nearly ran out of fuel on the second night,
meeting about 2 hours shorter both nights would be good ( but a very well prepared track both nights where was that track when super saloon title was here, no lumps and plenty of bite)
great final lap in streetstock gp final .. 4 wide brilliant..
racing was good but time wasted between races killed the meeting...

Looks like all you guys need to move to Gisborne. Great place, great people, great speedway club. All classes get treated equally, good facilities (including pits and lights). Prize money too! AND... only $2 for ambos.

i trailered my car after the 2nd race cos i couldnt see what i was doing to try and get the car back out...but that didnt faze me at all..
but i was surprised to have to pay the $5 as id never heard of that before...i actually had to borrow that so i could race...i dont take cash to meetings.and id spent all my available coin getting there, which cost ALOT more than id planned on...
there are a few things that shocked/puzzled me at that meeting but im not going to comment about it on here...
i just thank cromwell for letting us tear up the joint...

I think it is odd, and perhaps something that should be accumulated in club fees. You may bring up visitors, but when you travel do you have to pay fees?. I know alot of people who dont have cash at speedway with them.. not a poor thing.. just a eftpos conveniance thing.

of coarse it is compulsary to have ambos at all snz meetings held even practices and we greatly appreciate the work they do. the point is if this is going to be an ongoing charge to drivers when they travel to cromwell tell us first please so at least we can have it with us at sign in instead of having to go half way round the track to get money which drivers dont carry in their race overalls. as for travel money a lot of drivers rely on it for fuel money as most of the cars in the supporting grades come from outside the cromwell area,200klms plus and spend the best part of 2 to 3 hundred on getting there and back and for what? in most cases nothing. anything different regarding travel money and other charges should be notified to competitors prior to the meetings concerned so they know what they are up for before arriving at the track.

maybe this is something you should have talked about with the president or the promoter at the time, to ask the reasoning, or maybe one of them, or someone on the committee IN THE KNOW can explain why
i could give a half assed reason, but its not my place and i dont know all the facts, nor do i want to, at the end of the day we races, and got one and a 1/4 cars back on the trailers
