why do these happen?
i know alot of people like either one or the other, but it makes it very hard when you crew on a super saloon (part time) and a sprintcar, when the tracks clash
Take feb
the 13th sees the canterbuy champs at ruapuna and the SI super saloon champs at the glen
20th there is nothing
27th is Butterworth trophy at Ruapuna and the Elf super cup at woodfordglen

He changed it after i made my post, he had nz tq champs listed on feb 13th.
Its just common sense really gav, both clubs run between oct-march, theres about 6 months worth of available weekends, take away xmas and new years so your left with 20 odd weekends to fit 20 odd meetings and practises into, and 2 clubs, so your always going to have clashes, just lucky there arent no major clashes like 2 national titles.

Auckland and Christchurch can have this issue that others don't obviously, although "neighbouring tracks" up this way are sometimes only an hour or so apart (although so are Waikaraka and Western Springs through Auckland Friday night traffic), but any club - and lets use Ruapuna and Woodford Glen as an example - have more to worry about than just what their near neighbour, and a couple of pit crew, are up to.
If the Glen are promoting a major Super Saloon event for example, and they require visiting drivers, their first priority has to be gaining their best field when Dunedin, Nelson, Baypark, Huntly and the likes aren't running over what might be happening a few kms to the south.
In Auckland we've occasionally had major Modified and Sprintcar shows on the same night, a real bugger for fans of winged open-wheelers, but if either club had of changed their date it could have affected their field size, and thus their gate could have been even smaller than racing the clashing meeting. Sometimes things aren't as simple as they seem..........

Sadly this happens thru the racing season every season. As hercules put it, there will always be clashes. Chch is just lucky to have 2 two SNZ speedway tracks in the city area, it surely must happen in Auckland as they also benefit from 2 SNZ tracks as well. Also possibly the r------ racers (as was so kindly put by someone) calendar was put together a long time before the other club calendar so occasional clashes were inevitable...... the intention is not and has never been, to clash with Ruapuna
