That was a publicity photo, sure. My own photos that have the car as 1NZ are all taken at the tracks, either racing or in the pits. I haven't got time to scan them now, but the car did run as 1NZ.

Interestingly, none of the drivers who won the NZ Champs in a tank actually ran 1nz on their car (it was before the 1, 2, 3NZ thing) So the only time a tank has had 1nz on the side was Craig Boote, defending his title (won in 1999/00 in his spaceframe)during a guest drive in Miers tank after Boote had retired. Of course Warren McIntyre was running 1 on his tank when he won in 1980? So it could 'kinda' count as the inaugural running of #1 for the NZ Champ! And I think Booteys drive in the tank was in Rotorua in 1998, the year after he won his first title. From memory it was also the night he drove his current car for the first time...taking it for a test-drive after the meeting.
