WP seems to be one of the few northern tracks to run tonight.A good crowd turned out which is more than can be said for the Derby cars, which was canned thru lack of entries. This was more than made up for by the fireworks display. A good field of stockcars put on an entertaining night of action. Good field of mini stocks, two groups. Saloons were not to be out done with a bit of biff and bash and a roll over. Super Saloons were down in no's,about six, lost Shane Hicks 1st race, rose joint broke and RT rear came up thru back panel and Nick Symonds in old 96A engine gremlins.A good display was put on by the remaining ones, joined by half a dozen of the top saloons. Good fast and clean racing was had, with Macca on fire showing a new found smooth faster style of driving and won ht 1,Jennings ht2 and Macca from grid 1,Jennings grid 2,Cardwell 4 and he showed a clean pair of heels to them both and by the roar from the stands another popular feature win. A good night out, beats watching reruns on the TV.

Good nights entertainment. The Saloons and Supers put on a great show albeit with some damage sustained. Plenty of hits in the stockcars which the crowd wants to see.
All in Saloon race great drives from Jennings and Cardwell. Mike Slater pipping Cardwell at the line for second was well done.
Bring on next week for Auckland champs.

Kevin (Lightning McQueen) Head was indeed in attendance amoungst some fast and determined saloons and super saloons, and put in a solid night. He escaped most of the bumps and scrapes, and was the cheer of my 3 kids who are big fans of the movie "Cars."
Couple that with the awesome fireworks display, dozens and dozens of ministocks from all over the North Island (congrats 7a Peter Hunnibell) and 27 stockcars who used the bumpers, they had an excellent night. As mentioned, when the derby was pulled, I thought it was all going to be downhill, but myself and others all seemed pleasantly suprised.

Gribbsy, Peter was fast, but it was the class that was exceptional. Cars from Rotorua, KK, Gisborne and Huntly, they were fast, some rubbing but no medium contact let alone big hits. That said, no one was giving up any land for free. P.H did a great job mopping up points every heat and flew to the front in the 'A' feature. He was pushed all race and won by a tiny margin from the rapid 61G who was outstanding also. Other cars of mention were 15A, 22A and a few one race cameos from some others as well. Top ministock action. If that is the quality, the mega day looks to be a must for eager locals and visitors who want to shine. As far as the clown's nose being broken, straight after the fireworks some other clown thought it would be funny to throw a large clod of dirt at Hooda Clown. This guy got a broken nose, his suit ruined and had to leave and get medical attention. After that and a clean up, he went out and helped give away tickets for the Counties 4x4 team who had the display at the track. I couldn't believe his professionalism as he carried on duties for relatively meagre earnings and harbours no grudge to the perp. I believe there may be a pic of the offender, but not necessarily with the 'evidence'. All I know is it isn't a good idea to mess with a clown, their smile is only make up, and I would say he could pack a punch, so I hope there is no repeat performance. Also, the Sheriff got rattled in one of the saloon races, and dished out some after race justice on the infield. Seems he misplaced his handcuffs and used his bumper instead. SNZ went straight to him and I didnt hear of any sentence handed to the Sheriff, but wonder if his badge is safe? Top night for us and around 3000 others. Hooncorp.

Tuftef is referring to the clown on the infield, not Aaron. I didn't see that incident, hopefully the person in question got a good speaking to.
