Heard illegal tyre.
What is the penalty for that? Is it the same as an illegal engine?
Maybe he should have taken his own advice, that he gave to superstock knockers, and stayed home.
Does this rule him out from KK and the teams. Also what bout Jared in his tank? Does Marty have to pilot it?

Im in no way knocking the man or his crew back but the question needs to be asked..well firstly what was non-compliant about the tyre and secondly why would he have it on his rack if it was an illegal tyre. Just curious and not bagging him in anyway.

No one said it was an illegal tyre as such . It may have just measured badly . The penalty I believe is meeting exclusion .

Same sort of thing that happended to one of the Harwood brothers at Wanganui NZs? Can come down to just ordering wrong size tyre or putting wrong tyre in wrong place??
Bugger for Ross sure had that tank flying at NIs plus looks the part, mean, and cant wait for him and Wade to atleast one of them put a tank on the podium at NZs

Sorry for making a miss informed comment. Just heard the commentators saying an illegal tyre. Definatley was a shame not to see him back out there, hopefully hell go to kk with a point to prove.

A simple mistake, put one of the duro 55 fronts on the left rear. Rears have to be duro70. A very easy thing to miss in the heat of the battle.

Wow so based on that fact the wouldnt give him a 2min bell like they did for rees to change a tyre. I am aware you would want to start with a full field but if it was such a simple issue rectified easily surely he could have changed it and raced instead of being excluded. Good on scrutineers for noticing it but such a small error could have been fixed with no advantage or disadvantage to anyone Providing ofcourse it was the duro50/80 issue

same situation as carey harwood faced at the nz title in wangas after he qualified then told on finals day that he could not race the meeting because of a tyre issue.

A simple mistake, put one of the duro 50 fronts on the left rear. Rears have to be duro80. A very easy thing to miss in the heat of the battle. Correct ! Bottom line is we stuffed up,we had new tyres put on our front rims and also our left rears.Fronts being 55 duro and rears 70 duro unfortunately 2 tyres were mixed up and 55 was put on my left rear rim we then put it on the car not noticing. We know this because after going through my spares we found a 70 duro on a front rim.Its was definately a low point for me, this seasons has been good so far and cars getting better every meeting. Myself and crew were absolutely gutted and it was a long drive back to Waihi. So I apologize to everyone that was there to watch and my fellow competitors but it was by no means intentional. So we'll move on and look forward to Global Challenge this weekend in Palmy. Thx Horse.

nuts happens mate. Look forward to seeing you at nz's (havent checked list to see if your there but no doubt you will be) Sometimes the 1 thing you think you can never mess up is the first thing to get messed up. No doubt lesson learned and life to race another day.
