I've corrected my post for the correct duro ratings (too many bangs on the head stuffs up your memory). You have my deepest sympathy Ross, you were going real well on Friday. I hope that the exclusion was your only penalty? It might be an idea to colour code the tyres from now on

Yea Marty, its real easy to do, specially if you use the same type of rims for both ends. The more I think about it the more Id paint the inside wall of the tyre yellow or something, it'd be so easy for a crew member to grab the wrong one if you need to change between races.

And one car (not mentioning any names) spotted it as he was getting into the car after the parade, and asked for a 2 minuite bell to change a "flat" tyre. The tyre looked pretty pumprd up to me ;D

I well remember the kerfuffle when Carey in 17N was excluded from the dummy grid for the NZ finals. Maybe this situation was less familiar then -- even though it can certainly happen easily, unintentionally and to the best of them. Carey was treated as a cheat and a pariah until the innocence of the mistake became obvious and the punishment in both cases has not fitted the crime. My sympathies to you, Horse. When you hear there are more flagrant abuses of the rules taking place, exclusion on these grounds must be hard to swallow.

Good on ya horse for fronting up and saying you stuffed up. However ........I think it was a little bit rough sitting you out for the meeting. I know rules are rules but I would have thought a fine may have been an option because you hadn't entered the track. Good luck for the next two weeks Horse and team. Can't wait to see the tanks fly around 2K's. ;D ;D ;D

Guttered as alright for Horse and the whanau, crew and everyone involved, especially after the great season so far that Horse has been having in his tank. Qualifying for the 240s and for that to happen just prior to the Grand Parade yesterday afternoon, guttered alright. An honest mistake and he's explained his misfortune.
Time to move on and focus on the 248's, the NZ's and other races.....good luck Horse and keep focused bro.

Didn't the same thing happen years ago to Cliff Frost in a championship meeting?

Yes, something similar did happen to Cliff Frost at the 1996 Superstock (at the time Stockcar) champs in Christchurch.

I might be wrong but wasn't he driving Brian Winstanly's car? yes you are correct, after brian had his accident cliff was brought in to make the car hum and help get it sold by being on the track. from memory the tryes were spose to be duroed at scrutineering, however officials failed to do cliffs and thinking they had been done and all ok, happened to use a trye which was below the limit and was not picked up till cliff was on the dummy grid.

The trye back then was a Surer Dirt Bozz and it should have been a Dirt Bozz. The same man named here picked it up as well. (Just doing his job then and now) All drivers were told at the drivers brief spot checks were to be done and if found with wrong tryes what would happen. Cheers
