The final meet of the season, allen wakelings last regular meeting, going to be a lose to the sprintcar division, but like all retiring drivers....they come back. Heres a clip from the night with a fare bit of wako content in it for all the fans of wako.
What was your highlight of allens racing career over the 20 plus years he raced?

Wakeos performance at Bay Park against the Outlaws was superb! The night in 2002 that he set anew lap record at Ruapuna of 12.687 which still stands was something else too....The Twin seater ride at Western Springs in1999 (I think) was certainly memorable too

Wakeo chasing down Corey Haigh and passing him on the last corner of the last lap, i think it was the NZ Grandprix a few years ago at the Springs.

I very much doubt anyone will get close to that number. I think anyone who gets two is doing well. Since I started everyone has just kept getting quicker and I think that shows by the different feature winners we have every week.

Im with AJ, seeing Wakeo lock himself into the dash with the Outlaws at Baypark was something special. Shame about the rear end that night. And lowering the Ruapuna track record to sub 13 territory. 12.687 seconds is a hard number to forget. Any time that he came from the back to end up on the podium (and I've seen it a few times) was a spectacle. I gasped as he became the first person to use the wall at Ruapuna as part of the racetrack (and now everyone does it) I have heaps of other memories too, like being hit square in the eye with a piece of crud coming off his rear wheel when I was 6 years old, and then watching the rest of the night with only one good eye. All the giveaway stickers and frisbees I ended up with when he was sponsored by Philips Car Audio. Even putting down $50 at the TAB on him to win, only to see him taken to the wall (straightlined??) by Rodney Wood. And thats just a small amount. Anyway, Thanks for the memories Wakeo
