This is one of my favourite races of the year.
The history is there and the pride the drivers must have in winning a race named after the great Barry Butterworth must be immense.
Waikaraka always produces a good surface for the event.
I do hope the polesitter is given the option to start off the rear as happened in last years event. Lance Beale couldn't take advantage on that occasion but Pickens, Alach or Mosen have the potential to take a stunning win from the back.
Bring it on.

Barry Butterworth Classic - Format. 40 Laps. Tw0 groups will be on hand. The Barry Butterworth group (NMCS Franchise holders gain automatic entry to main event) with 16 cars locked into the main as per NMCS franchise. These 16 cars will do marble draw and reverse over 2 x 12 lap races. Top points will win the Samsung 55"LED TV. Thanks to Samsung for their support.
Ted Tracey Group. All other cars entering will also do marble draw and reverse grid over 2 x 12 lap races. Top 4 will transfer to Feature. Others based on points will race 12 lap semi main for final 2 or 4 positions. ( number of cars in event to be determined shortly).
Then, defending champion Michael Pickens will start dead last. He will pick who starts next to him and then that driver will pick who starts next to him etc etc down to grid one.
This is a self handicap system and will be a traditional FASTEST FROM THE BACK format. The defending champion will start last the following season.
you will see some racing April 10th !!!

What a line up, what a format, fantastic. ;D Now if WP can produce a track like the one on the 20th, there should be drive all night and plenty of 3 wide stuff happening.

see told you all fastest from the back is the way to go , if the track is as good as it has been lately you should get the best midget racin this season . Pickens will not care where he starts 40laps is plenty , Watch out though for8h due for a big win.//

Should make for a spectacular night of racing. Hopefully there is a good crowd.
I think for entertainment value they should get all the drivers out on the infield to pick the grid.

Penrith, the Jason Bunney thing might be to do with this video. Check it out at around the 3.57 minute mark. And he blamed hayden for spinning Neville out !!! I think this is what fat right rear is going on about. Sh*t happens ay !

When the challenge is issued to "come and see me", it doesnt take much before the half arsed chuckle the challenge extracts is forgotten.
What ive often found when taking up the "come and see me" challenge,is how difficult it can be to find someone prepared to front up and be seen.
In the case of the current challenge, reality would point towards the lack of a pair big enough to make an appearance.
