Putting original Speedway Engineering quickchange diff back into Sidewinder along with Gambler torsion bars to support it. Got all the bits and just got to do it now. Going to install fresh engine with more cubes and taller 3rd gear ZF G/Box at some stage once diff is all in. Front suspension is working well and have an original style sway bar and arms arriving soon. Picked up an old Suzuki Swift body mould that has the right length body, another thing to sort, picked up the original fuel tank for it as well, made of stainless steel and still mint order as quality material - all coming together. This has been a fun project to work on, people are real helpful with info and parts. Much appreciated.

Mate, that restoration job is amazing and a real credit to you. So good to see such a famous and iconic car looking 100% original. When you look at the pics on page 1 of this thread you get a real appreciation of how much work you've done. whats the car like to chuck around on the track?

Where did you find that old beast? Hope to see it somewhere this season. Off a guy called Sandy Flett from the Naki, he was minding it for me (the diff that is) got the car off Grant King who formed this page so kept it going like the car, it was a great help to get the right diff back in the Sidewinder so many thanks to Sandy, getting a longer body made which will be ascetically correct. Yes I need to up tempo so I can take it somewhere and have a skid in it, really looking forward to that.

Thanks for that as it has been very time consuming and has required dollars thrown at it to do, bit at a time - thank goodness and done most of the work myself so only parts really. The car handles impeccably on the track, even though I am a novice driver I feel very confident in the Sidewinder and cant wait to try it with the original type torsion bars in the back and the Quickchange. Next winter I am going to install a fresh engine with alli heads with way more horsepower and torque which will apparantly make it easier to drift, existing engine is only 225 cu in (sleeved 289) but goes pretty good for its size with all the good gear on it, it is the same engine (excepting heads as were pretty stuffed) with World Products cast iron heads and a very good induction and extraction set up.

Just got to line up the birdcages (which hopefully are easy to move) with the Torsion bars, anchor the bearing housings on the diff head sides and on to mounting shocks and adjuster pedestals. Found a good trick for end of adjuster bolts to avoid damaging the thread when winding up and down, I fitted dome head nuts to the contacting end so the thread was protected always, works good - easy.
