Whilst you have the best of ideals in mind percy you are going up against clubs, some trading as buisnesses and a portion of their profit comes from selling that alcohol, take that away and theyll charge more for entry. Im not condoning drinking at speedway but more saying speedway will fight it tooth and nail

However I dont think Rotorua even sells the stuff, so they wouldn't be losing out on much by banning people bringing alcohol in.

Here Here Percy it would be great if SPEEDWAY was ALCOHOL FREE as when you go down to the teams champs in P/North you can buy that bad stuff called ALCOHOL during the meeting and that too me is wrong. It would also be nice to have a SMOKE FREE AREA at all the tracks as 2nd hand smoke is not good for you

Although I can see the point of banning alcohol at speedway venues, those that want to drink will do so before turning up. Still gonna be drunk people at the venues behaving the same way. Breath test at the gate??

Why not they do at rugby games. Every track should ban alcohol being bought in and sell it in the venue with a limit of 2 drinks per person per time in cans not glass. Glass should be banned fullstop.

All the varieties of beer, wine and RTD's on sale are very expensive, $7 for a very little RTD can. I think the price puts a bit of a limit on what most people can afford. I've never seen anyone making a dick of themselves at Palmy other than at the teams champs meeting. I think at any big meeting you will always get some people who are on the "big road trip" buzz and will end up drinking too much before they even go in the gate, regardless of what track it is. In my view banning alcohol sales isn't the answer but contolling those who are causing offence to others is, doesn't mean kicking them out gestapo style, but by letting them know to change what they're doing.

i have been involved for many years, and i agree with a complete alcohol ban at all meetings,i am the person that started all of the complaints at last years teams in palmy after drunk idiots kicked and spilt booze all over my pregnant wife, after complaining to the office at palmy i realized how little they can do,yes i took it to the police and will contact them again this year so hopefully after my chat with them last year we may get some action on that front, and thanks to that a few guys have not got sponsorship due to my wife saying enough is enough and she will never return and she really loves teams racing big pete p&k automotive

I dont know where you have been sitting, every year there is trouble- I see the guys coming in pissed and they let them in!!! You need decent security at these events- and a no booze area. Its not right for pissed guys to ruin it for everyone and make others feel uncomfortable KICK THEM OUT- then they might get the message.

Im sorry but why should someone HAVE to sit somewhere else because someone next to them is being a lout. Its called courtesy and all your last reply does is makes excuses and makes it ok for those drunken louts to be idiots in those areas, what about those that are drinking but dont want to get drunk, do they have to move aswell. Drinking is fine, its how the drinking is happening and the results from it. NO ONE should have to put up with it, if i want to sit in turn 1 2 3 or 4 i should be able to do so without having to worry about idiots.

Fair is Fair.... as ive mentioned in previous threads and as youve pnted out.... theres a small group of people wrecking it for everyone...
i love having a few beers while watching speedway... but im sure im going to lose that privelage soon enough..
Sad but true but younger people cannot handle alcohol and its always gonna be like that, and they dont see it as a privelage so they are abusing it

Very true, i dont mind the drunk aslong as they dont become obnoxious, the thing that does concern me with the drinking is they have to get home at some stage and while you can count on a few having sober drivers how many dont. As youve said drinking is a privilage, not a right and soon people will realise this.

Whats the great need to drink at an event? This is something i dont understand, is it not possible to enjoy the racing without alcohol? is it not possible to enjoy without alcohol? is it easier to socialise with alcohol or has it just become normal to drink at events?

This is why i like Woodford Glen there is a complete alcohol ban at all meetings and security are strict as they check your bags before you even buy your ticket at the gate and if you get caught with alcohol at the meet not only is your booze in the bin but your kicked out.
