I had the final radiation treatment done today, have been going every day for the past 6 weeks. Thanks so much to everybody for their support, the side effects haven't been very nice. They said that they will peak in 2 weeks and then ease so I'm glad to hear that. Then a final image scan to confirm its all gone and then off the couch and back into it. I've got lots of things to do. Cheers and thank you, Pete

I couldn't go to the recent ENZED Superstock Teams Champs because I was unwell. Sidecars were scheduled to race on the finals night, I found out later that Mike Zachan and all the other 12 Sidecars all had a best wishes sticker on them. Thanks heaps Mike and everybody, means a lot to me and I won't forget. Pete

Hope this finds you fit and well sir..and life is good now for you to get out and about.. Thank you for your kind words. I got confirmation a week ago that there is no more cancer in the area of the operation and the kidney has become stable. I found the radiation treatment quite hard and still get tired much more quickly than I would of but like Arnold I'll be back. I lost over 20kg and need to put that back on. There has been the odd side effect with nerves, I have pain in my ear often and a crooked smile, but thats better than a forked tongue so I'll live with it. This year I have spent some time on a special project in a beautiful place with some great people and that enviroment has helped my recovery. Thanks for your support - onward and upward. I took these pics on the weekend

This year I have spent some time on a special project in a beautiful place with some great people and that enviroment has helped my recovery. Thanks for your support - onward and upward. Make the most of it Slidey. Every minute of every hour of every day etc etc. One never knows what might happen next. My dad appeared to beat it many years ago, got the all clear, then it returned in another form and took him out at 66. My youngest brother was diagnosed and initially told they thought it was treatable and he'd get a reasonable time, but he didn't react to treatment as well as they expected, it spread, and he was gone at 52, 7 years ago, and only 8 months after the initial diagnosis. And I joined the family list earlier this year and which I was informed on Day 1 that it was an "unfixable" condition. I guess that's the modern terminology for "terminal". How long I last depends to some extent - although who really knows? - on how much of the various treatments being offered I can handle, or perhaps choose to commit to. A bone marrow transplant is an estimated 6-8 weeks in hospital and a similar period at home recuperating. It will make me sicker than what I actually feel right now. Sometimes I think it's quality over quantity, especially as there are no guarantees that'll even work. I completed my fourth round of a CyBorDex chemo treatment yesterday, and I'm coping with it relatively well to date with very few of the expected side effects. Have had a couple of unexpected side effects however, and now my Blood Pressure is through the roof and that's the latest drama. It's all a balancing act really. I've also been on crutches since early May (the myeloma ate through my left femur until it fractured, now replaced by a steel rod from hip to knee) although physio has shown marked improvement in that respect in recent weeks. There's a still a certain amount of confidence I may walk again, although how good that walk is, and how far I can walk, is still to be determined. So I repeat; Make the most of it Slidey. Every minute of every hour of every day etc etc. One never knows what might happen next. Barry B
