My thoughts and best wishes are with you. The fight isn't easy but must be fought. Just know you have so many people in your corner with you. Don't be afraid to lean on them if & when you ever need to. I won't be able to get to much, if any, Speedway in the foreseeable future, so for purely selfish reasons I need you back on your feet to provide me with my speedway fix thru your pictures and words... Oh and the fact that your not a bad bloke either.
Take care, and I know your resolve, grit, determination and positive attitude will go a long way to seeing you thru it all.

I had my operation at Palmerston North Hospital on Wednesday, it went for 6 hours.
Fair to say I'm looking a bit different now but glad this part of the surgeries has been done. More to come.
Unfortunately the surgeon had to cut the nerve out along with the cancer which means I have a gold weight in my eyelid so my eye can shut and a bit of a lip droop going on, he cut out a small spot on my lip with a few stitches so its a bit swollen anyway but that'll get a little bit better. The eye is pretty sore at the moment.
They cut a skin graft from my arm of about 40 stitches size for my face and removed half my ear. My surgeon said it went well but we won't know for sure till we do more tests.
They did a colonoscopy while I was unconcious and removed the 2 growths and stitched it up. They go to the lab and if the margins are all good thats it for that, I think.. there will probably be another scan too.
I have a bi-opsy of my lung in 2 weeks time in Palmerston North. Not sure what the involves but I am grateful to be taken care of.
Every single one of the nurses, doctors, surgeons, anethitists, oderly's, receptionists and all the rest have been mind blowingly kind and caring and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you to all on here for your prayers and kind words. It really does help when the going gets really seriously next level painful.

Well keep the good spirits up Pete ,it is bloody hard at times i know ,i used to tell the team that gave me skin grafts ,etc you only get one swing of the axe ... The other day i was joined by a pilot from the rescue helicopter up here ,can you remember us talking about cutting native out of ahura and flying it out by chopper ,well she used to do it in Canada .. She also has a club for exclusive members like myself that have had to be rescued by helicopter called the HAAST CLUB so when you are fit and able google it and you can see how it is set up ...
You know Pete if they can make a silk purse out of a sows ear you will come right and be able to enjoy with Rammers a nother fish burger from Mr Changs takeaway ....

Thanks so much for your support. www.facebook.com/goslidewaystv/videos/827815741751955Some pics from Palmy Practice will be up Monday night. Ryan Laskey Paul Donovan Josh Barton Max Lowe - I've been watching Max and Holly Lowe racing their Ministocks with their family for a few years now. Some great battles and they are a top team all round on many levels. I like their values. Max won his first car in a $50 raffle, Jayme Hemi's red Ministock with the flames. Since then Holly and Max have had a huge number of wins and have travelled far and wide and had a ball. Max has learned a lot about engineering over this time and does hs own work, I think he can build mean trailers and just about anything else but I'll interview him in due course to make sure I get it right. Of course that song that went to number 1 a few years ago "bring back the Manawatu Mullets" could be heard in the distance of my mind as I was thinking Max will be in for an absolutely bangin' season in 2022/23 Good luck and go hard brother -- win the crowd ! win the crowd. This classic Stockcar features a boot lid that opens and shuts. Do you like my hat ? Yes, I really do like that hat. Make sure you and your team have a good hat each, preferably with a brim, but at the very least a cap, and suncreen when you head out and about this summer. Skin Cancer is not pleaseant, neither are many of the treatments and side effects. All my health problems this year, which started getting really bad and painful in December 2021 and have continued every single day over the last 10 months since, started from just a small skin cancer spot on my head. Then it spead to multiple other organs which changed the game considerably. Being in constant extreme pain and feeling like you've got the worst hang over you've ever had 24 hours a day 7 days a week for a year just wears you out and nothing gets done which frustrates me and I end up grumpy, so its been hard on my wife Nicola too. Its one thing to deal with it when its on you, but things get much more serious when its in you. I still have some major surgeries ahead to look forward to. So Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls: SLIP - SLOP - SLAP SLIP - SLOP - SLAP ..and Bring the Mullets Back !! Jordan Russ Ford power. First night I met Jordan

Nicola and I had a very nice visit from Fast Lane Spares PN manager Peter Sloman about a week ago. We really appreciate yours and Robyns support Pete a great deal. This is Pete, he has had a very succsessful speedway career based around (Super) Saloons. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes in motorsport and Pete ran his own speed shop in Las Vegas for a number of years. www.facebook.com/fastlanespares is where to find him these days, an expert on set ups and everything else. You can't beat experience. Other Saloon racers I liked to follow when I was young were of course Pete's Monza's, Pam Allen in her Mini - I sat my Cubs art badge at Pams Mum's house, and the big 454 Chevy Rat Monaro of Benny Boerboom. There was a cool little V8 sports car called a Sunbeam Tiger too. Sorry I don't know who took this picture of Pete but full credit to them. Then we'd jump on the 10.30pm Madge or Rutherford bus and get a ride back to Feilding. Thanks heaps Pete

Thank you very much for this Roydon and to everybody who bids. www.facebook.com/Roydon22yRoydon Winstanley: "Well that wasnt the most ideal way to kick off the season! First race managed to get out in the lead for couple laps, was battling it out for the top few spots and ended clipping a car on the red and barrel rolling past the grand stand! Ended up with alot of wrecked gear but thanks to the team and hammond racing we managed to get it all fixed up and made it back out for the next race and ended up finishing in 3rd and then 3rd again in the feature so that leaves us sitting in 3rd on season points so far 🤙 looking forward to the Robin Pratt Memorial this weekend! The wing has gathered alot of interest of people wanting to hang it on their wall, so ive decided to auction off a panel with all proceeds going to the recovery of our mate Peter Richard Paltridge from Go Slideways Tv who has had a really tough battle with cancer since Christmas Eve last year! Pete is a real tough bugger and has been through alot of opperations in this time! I really appreciate all that pete does and he is a true asset to sport and i really want to be able to give something back! Im told a give a little page will also be up sometime next few weeks Will look at starting a trademe auction for it but for now, Start the bidding by commenting below and the highest bidder takes it.." www.facebook.com/Roydon22y

Our thoughts and prayers are with Grant and Katelyn the Mytton family tonight with the loss of Grants much loved Mum, Margaret (“Girly” ) although I only ever addressed her as Mrs Mytton. She worked hard on the farm all her life and had seen a lot of changes in over 90 years - time to rest in heavenly peace Mrs Mytton, you've earned it. Much Love to all Mrs Myttons family and friends, New Zealand lost one of the really good ones yesterday. xx Pete on behalf of the Palmy crew.

Well that was the Friday from hell... I had a day surgery appointment at Palmerston North hospital last Friday at 8am to do a bi-opsy on the cancer growth on my lung, which was discovered (early) along with the bowel cancer after the scan in Wellington. The proceedure was done under local anesthetic where a large hollow needle is inserted between the ribs and a smaller diameter needle is threaded inside it with some sort of scoop cutty thing on the end to take a sample for bi-opsy. That was a bit painful but not major - the major problem was that the lung got punctured during this process which meant that every time I breathed in, air would build up between my ribs and lung. This meant a very real chance that the air would build up and put so much pressure on the lung that it would ultimatly colapse onto to the other lung resulting in death. The body sometimes seals these small punctures itself and obsorbs the air, unfortunately after some time this didn't happen so a 9pm proceedure under local anesthetic was done to put in a air line drain in between my ribs, about as fat as your finger and a foot long. The staff were very professional, amazing how much pain you can go through with good communication, breathing and positive thinking. But yeah, it was not fun at all. Lots of Morphine afterwards helped a little bit, but ultimately a sleepless few nights, with pain. The graft on my cheek isn't healing as good as it could, I need more rest and more nutrition. Look out cancer, after a big feed of pork bones and Puha boil up tomorrow I'll be ready for another round. I can only eat soft food at the moment, chewing is impossible. So I finally got to come home at 4pm today (Tuesday), to discover the washing machine has conked out along with my nutri bullet. Great that October is over. Had lovely visits from my Mum & step Dad Joe, Cilla and Kip, Sarah Ross and Leanne Corlett (thanks heaps for the food Lulu and Aidan), Geoffrey the island in the storm, and of course my numero-uno supporter, wifey Nicola Street I got called a "true warrior" by Nig Heke this week which cheered me up untold, I replayed a movie in my mind of a mountain at dawn while the pain was intense and it certainly helped. If you've read this far thank you very much for your support, bet you're tired too after this book size report so feel free to take a nap. I am. I am very tired now. The staff at Palmerston North hospital are all simply amazing. Every single one of them just care very deeply about what they do and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. But there's no let up with this cancer fight, bring on apopo. Much L&R Pete

Morena and thank you all for your kind words. Your support really does give me strength and confidence. In a funny way it sort of reminds me of playing rugby, I've gots lots of back up, feels good. This is the end of my street next to the Castle Tavern in Palmerston North looking at Doctor Evil's lair this morning. The famous "Tank" Stockcar was built 50 years ago at the garage just up the road on the left. It was known as "Jamiesons Garage" at the time. No painful injections or proceedures today, yipee. Just art. Have a great day, don't worry, be happy. Pete
