Hi, i have never raced at TeMarua before and wont get a chance to before the teams meeting. I was hoping someone could tell me a little about the track, and which other tracks it compares too. Is it a Horsepower track or a momentum track etc?

its definetly not a horsepower track, turns 3and4 would be similar to wellington but 1and2 is a very tight radius corner, youll probaly find you need to have very short gearing to keep the revs up through the turns and the straights are pretty short, run a bit more stagger to help the car turn in better, you can also increase the positive caster on the rightfront so when you turn left the rightfront corner drops a little bit more to help unload the leftrear for corner entry. you could also ask brett sloman, him and peter have raced there since the beginning of time josh

This is based on my experiances from a couple of seasons back in a saloon car and I understand that the track has been relaid and altered since....but Te Marua is a track where you want more stagger and you want your car looser than say Palmy especially at the start of the night as they used to start with a very wet track that depending on the numbers of Saloons/Mods will dry out during the night and require the car to be tightened up.
Compared with what you ran at the NIs in palmy (assuming you hit the right setup there) I would increase stagger by say 1-2 inches and decrease crossweight 1-2%. By the end of the night increase the crossweight back to about a palmy setup but maintain the extra stagger.
The biggest mistake I have seen people make at Te Marua is not adjusting the car to suit the track as the night goes on. This is a judgement call on the night and again will depend on the support classes, track condition etc.
Maybe someone who has run there more recently can help more.
