I guess it's a case of making a decision that will produce the best track and outcomes for the event, rather than best for an individual racer, or the clubs bank balance. Nelson chose a 4pm start for the final day of the Super Saloon Champs after a rain postponement. Criticism from a few followed, suggesting the track deteriorated more quickly in the heat of the day, that the regular 7pm time slot would have best suited the track.

There could be any number of reasons. - Track condition and prep time;
- Re-organisation of event timetables (much easier to push everything back by a day and go with 'same times as previously stated' than to re-engineer the timelines)
- Re-scheduling of support classes, etc
. Just like the postponement from last night, there is no way that the re-scheduled days will suit everyone - drivers, crew, fans, clubs, so it's a case of sucking it up, realising that's what it's about and making the most of it. As a fan of the sport, I'd take a late Sunday night as just one of those things I need to cope with to take in a great championship night's racing.

I have to agree with Murray on this one. 1pm start for a speedway meeting in the hot sun would be terrible.
I was at Nelson for the Super Saloons Champs and even the 4pm start did nothing to provide a good track surface and / or for the spectators, I have never been covered in so much dust!!
When it is a championship meeting you should allow for the rain day in your accomodation bookings time off work etc.. Im sure 90% of the drivers do..

I understand not to have a 1pm start but maybe they could have considered starting at 5pm to do grand parades etc so racing would start close to six. They can get alot of races done in an hour. Im an out of towner and we have a six hour drive home after racing, but still want to see the track hold up for the drivers.

With the delay to Sunday I would have seriously considered attending from the Naki IF there had been an earlier start (I could not attend Friday or Saturday due to family things) and subsequently an earlier finish and arrival home.

There are probably more people that are working Sunday and would miss out if it started early. Sometimes you've just got to accept the way things work out.

Its a nz title and a public holiday monday. If you where organized rain out days said to be sunday and monday. So they know Waikato supporters and Auckland and Rotorua supporters would have been there anyway almost guaranteed. most of these drivers would be going directly to palmy. Afternoon racing is just so hot and burns off the track to quick in my opinion.

wow you people are so lucky to at least be given a chance to have this meet completed in the same weekend not like the nz streetstock title that was postponed for a week at gisbourne after 1 rainy nite and drivers,crew and supporters had to cough up for a weeks accomodation and other expenses.at least huntly are running it the next available day.

Tonights racing works for me , even tho I live in Auckland still have to work Monday but not till 7pm. But teams at Palmy being Sat/Sun screws me up as have to start work 7am Waitangi Day (mon), would have preferred the old Fri/Sat dates. Swings & roundabouts, can not have every thing my way.
