ok.. im a newby when i comes to the electrical side of engines. i see that some std stocks are running the factory comps.. then at last nights hoopla there was a super or two running link computers. with my little know how i thort the computers where to run the efi side of thing. and now being in a stockcar, std or super, there is no efi, so........... whats the computer doing if the efi is gone?

In the V6 Commodore engine,you need the Computer to have ignition timing. Without it there is no advance in the timing and you have a real flat engine,believe me!!!
In the Supers,alot of cars run without distributors hence the need for an external timing and ignition source. There are all sorts of coil pack type ignition systems.Electromotive,Link,MSD etc etc.

falcon engines (EA/AU etc), dont run a computer, can get away with an xe/xf falcon dizzy (with a small modification) and run the std twin barrel weber of an xf falcon , for stockcars that is
