Have seen it done two ways like the Holden V8's used to be. Stroke the crank, longer rods and different pistons and another way is boring the deal. They are a great wee motor all right. These two engines have been on the Dyno and have some great figures compared to the standard engine with injection. ;D The technolgy and people are out there but, like anything.....it costs!!! Had a bit to do with one of the first Commodore V6's ever to run at Palmy. The tech around now is far better than what we had back then but Hey,you have to start some where eh??

Id be using small journal chev rods and offset grind the crank.Youl get 6mm more stroke.

the bore would have to be 100mm to get to 248.3 cub with standard crank. You would never bore it that far anyway, the bore is about 5-6mm thick.

Thanks for the updates guys. Still be interested to hear what direction people find the best. I suspect boring might be an option for the vn-vr, but with the smaller vs on motors the strokers might be the way to go. I see these guys are doing that www.comeracing.com/products/rodscranks/holdenv6/ just a bit of a shame that the capacity is a littttllle bit further than the old 248. Bummer, as it would be great if there was an off the shelf kit for the VS onwards v6. I suspect there will be more and more oging this way with the commies popularity, and the fact they used the ecotec for 9 years pretty much unchanged. The dyno sheet makes for interesting reading. cheers
