pg 190 T12-1-9 YELLOW RULE BOOK
(B)following approved for use Model 4009, 4009HR, 4009HRV, 9009, 9009HR
Correct mounts to be used as per manufacturer's diagram. The above seats are exempt from the following rules requiring the seat back to be steel backed.
Way I read the rules if you use any other model of racetech besides these then you need to follow the rules reference steel backing it. I own a 4009HRV ...a nice seat for sleeping in if you happen to bang in to a wall to hard ;D just make sure your submarine belt is mounted properly and your belts are tight.. Hope that helps

kirkey are doing a brilliant new seat as seen in stockcar 44p. this is a no expense spared and safty conscious car. Its a different design around the head area to a race tech to allow better visability to. Im told they are safe as house. Maybe give 44p a bell. Andrew Weld is his name. 06 354 9290 Check out the car at www.weldracing.co.nzCheers The Dark One

I would check with speedway nz Before getting one of the kirkey full containment seats. I have heard that they are not approved because they are not 3mm right up the back. Best to check with a phone call to SNZ before spending the money.

I have a racetech 4000wx in my standard, a nice comfy seat (haven't taken any hits in it yet) it was a pain in the backside to make the steel back for it and it is difficult to mount thru the shoulders and headrest, having to remove the cover and SLOWLY removing the glued on sponge so i could fibreglass the studs in for the mounts. And it didn't seem to go back together as easily as it came apart! Oh well serves me right for being a cheapskate!
