Hi-it's a Saginaw(GM)box-looks like an early PG adaption/conversion for stockar/modified/sprintcar (possibly) If it's in good shape they work very well-same box I/we used at NRP good luck Vic

Oops-just saw you've been having problems.... I'm not sure what the external hose does-we've never fitted them, but KSE sprintcar boxes(which use very similar internals)have them. I suppose, just go through things-the smaller hose fitting (top one?)is the pressure in-beyond that-you start getting into the box itself. Or look for a local power steering whiz?

Paul, that looks like a PG box, if your car is a kurger I think it was mine from the early 90s. I had it put in my Phil and Pete arround 1991 give Pete a call at PGs in Auckland and I'm sure he would be willing to help with your problems.

this is definitely a P.G stockcar box the problem you have is air in the system the copper hose at the top of the box is a air bleed pipe the way you bleed these boxes is to put the hoses on stand the box up right as much as possible with the pinion up do not put the drop arm on fill the reservoir set the box up in the middle IE: if your box has 3 turns from lock to lock turn it 1 1/2 turns so the steering is in the middle start the engine make sure there is some one keeping the reservoir full (not over full) if the fluid level dose not go down give it a blip on the throttle until it dose then turn the car off once the fluid sucks down refill and do this 3 or 4 times until the fluid dose not drop the fluid may froth up a little if so turn the car off a leave it for 10 or so minutes then restart the car if the fluid level is good then turn the pinion using a pair of vice grips (do not clamp to hard as this will damage the spline)turn the pinion 1/4 of to the right then back to the center then 1/4 to the left back to center 1/2 a turn to the right back to center and so on until you have been across to both locks this will get all the air out. If it continues to turn 1 way buy its self this is called motoring then you may have a valve problem give Peter a call at P.Gs on 0800 steering or 09 274 5871 as he is the main man that dose these boxes if he unavailable talk to Greg good luck Rhody Game
