Any ideas on how to get a soft clutch? (stockcar) Having to more or less stand on it. 8/10 it stalls when releasing the clutch.. maybe just a weak leg...lol..but yea it shouldn't be this hard. Also whats the best size tyre for R/R, L/R (Toyota Hiace diff) as I'm sure its 4.3 ratio. ...just finding it to be bogging in the corners. (low revs)....maybe need a Holley carb instead of a std one?? I'm open for ideas etc Still learning about the car...please don't shoot me for the questions.... ;D Cheers

Re boggong, what track are you at. Differs depending on track and what engine gearbox combo are you running?

The clutch issue could be all about leverage. The pin that pushes the piston in the clutch cylinder needs to mounted about two thirds of the way up the pedal. This gives you better leverage when pushing on the bottom of the pedal. Basically, the closer the pin is to the bottom of the pedal, the harder it will be to push. Look back through the threads as I think Gibbo13p has had a similar problem before and it has been discussed on here.
As for the tyre size, I run a 4.3 mazda with HQ box and use a 215/70 -15 on the right rear and a 196/65 - 15 on the left rear. Use these same tyres at all the tracks I have raced at, Palmy, Stratford, Wanganui, Rotorua, Meanee. Hope this is of some help.

Cheers 29s.... ....i think your right with the pedal leverage, as it is low down on the pedel....will change (can only but try i guess)...the cylinder is new as well. We will be running at Meanee this week, so will try the tyre combo. Also we have a New 350 Holley Carb coming as well (for the VR), are these very hard to get sorted? eg: jet size etc. Will it give us gref been new...?

with the pedal leverage, devide the overall length of the pedal from the very top where it hinges to the foot pad into 6, then measure 1/6th down from the top and thats where the cylinder push rod should be, usally a small diameter master cylinder means more pressure therefore less effort

Raced at the NI stockcar champs last night Did the parade ok (Our mint clutch set up ...hehe.. ;D) But now its Gear box issue...1st gear not selecting right having to use 2nd gear all night..(changing Gear box). Only our 4th meeting in the car, and slowly getting her to hook up nicely....just need to sort steering out now, fighting in the corners to much..can someone flick me a pm if keen to throw ideas, as il pm ya back how our steering is set up.. Just like to thank you guys for the tips...i enjoy reading these threads.......sure helps alot We are Based in Palmy Rotaholic....
