Like to get some feed back on putting the sidecars that run 1060cc engines back out there. i think this is a great idea, a few years ago there were alot of rules brought in to align us with the FIM when they were involved with the sidecar world championship. the demise of the 1060 engines started from there. there was a period of time for the people that owned these engines to de cc them but many decided not to and now they sit in the shed. to me this is a absolute waste of a sidecar to have them sitting in sheds around the country gathering dust, many of them still very competitive, i myself dont have the issue and have spent thousands on my baby/sidecar and i say if im beaten buy a 1060 bike well good on them and i have to get my s hit together haha. the more bikes at a meeting the better and the class is growing with some awesome people and bikes out there, i would say going forward the only thing that could be a problem would be that some engines were brought down from the 1060cc to 1045 and they could have a case to have a cry about this if it is to be made to 1060 again. thats my feedback and only my view on things, cheers mike zachan

Does a promoter of a meeting have to get the ok from snz before he says, you boys with 1060cc sidecars can have a run also on the night.I see one of the boys on here said it would be all right with him to run them at the meeting, what about some of you others out there ok if the boys have a run.

if people can still go out on an rf900 and beat a 1045 cc bike, what difference is 15cc going to make.Silly rule that put bikes back in sheds instead of on the track

to be able to race at any track your bike has to be green sheeted. it will not pass this as its over 1045cc.this is controlled by SNZ not the track so the short answer is the promoter will not let you on the track. I agree this is a stupid rule and a remit should be but forward at the next agm to remove it.

For a start we dont run any world champs here do we, so why the hell do we have to fit in with them.Yes all cars, bikes, sidecars have to be green sheeted before they can run in the class controlled by snz.Does the promoter have any say on what he can run on the night or is this also controlled by snz.

I have spoken to lots of competitors around New Zealand who all agree. Will a competitor put forward a remit to allow a maximum engine size of 1060cc. The rest of you can vote for or against it this would sort the issue would it not?

Ive got one question when was the last time anybody was striped & measured, Why not introduce say 1000cc limit for new builds from 2016 but every thing out there now ,reguardless of age can run now & into the future, Its not the size of the engine that really matters any more, current 1000cc superbikes if anything have more power than needed. Choose a rear tyre that will limit power. Im not talking about the solo tyre that is pretty much aus , england , europe, leave that for internationals. but one that will suit clay in nz tracks ,possiably a flat track dirt tyre ? any way im beating a pretty well worn drum

Like to get some feed back on putting the sidecars that run 1060cc engines back out there. The fim 1045 cc rule came about because wisco did a 1040 oversize kit for the yamaha exup. Its a little pathetic you want to introduce a 20 year old rule. Look forward leave the current 1060 cc limit as you all know the current crop of 1000cc engines available have 20 years of development to out horsepower 1200cc of years past. Power isnt the problem & ive been beating this drum for years. superstocks have a regulated tire, solo speedway have a regulated tire, v8 supercars have a regulated tire, formula 1 has governed choices of tire. my suggested choice of tire the DUNLOP/ MAXXIS tires used on american flat track there is a choice of soft medium hard designed to run on clay based tracks , but also capable of doing the business on shale. these tires will fit 19 inch solo wheels. This is just an opinion / observation. Look ahead not back

Hello , Ill probably get in the nuts for this but here goes anyway. Ive been involved in sidecar speedway for some time now, Been involved with committees , organizations etc competed as a passenger failed as a rider. The sport has taken me to south africa , denmark , east germany, all over england, Italy & nz. To this day the efforts to make the sport more professional have fallen short for all sorts of reasons . Her in NZ the sport is along side Australia reasonably strong. As for Europe struggling to say the least. The sport is exciting, spectacular ,but also at the bottom of the food chain as speedway classes go. To this day it seems to have the meathead madman image attached to as far as general public see it.As for the lowering of cc limit, modern engines out strip engines of 10 years ago let all previously raced sidecars race & keep the sport alive . Park your bloody egos and leave any disputes on the race track. This is just a thought introduce an F2 class 600cc limit. solo speedway 19 inch tires front side & rear & just go hard. I personally love the sport & so dose any one who competes in it. For anybody to take notice or interest in the sport you have really got to sharpen up your image, get consistency with decision & reffing matters. general bike & kit appearance is good but can still do better. You cant be the rebel class if you want respect from promoters & decission makers at SNZ level . Love or hate officaldom keep smiling at them not spitting at them. As with most things in life the fixes are not complicated . Agree to disagree at worst & carry on. pregnant dog over thanks for reading

Why the hell would we want another class out there, thats the trouble all over in nz motorsport too many, the point was just to get the 1060 chairs back out there without making a big deal about it.
