"Mate, she'll be right ... " "It's the same for all the drivers ..." "I'm sick of you Keyboard Warriors comin' on here spouting on about the promotion .. "
These are just some of the comments we get when anyone suggests that the Western Springs track surface is dangerous. Well here's the evidence folks.
But don't worry, it'll be up to a safe, racey, professional standard for the motorbikes world thingy.

I'm surprised that the public is still being granted access to the track after the meeting. Thought SPL would be trying to control access just like they remove comments and shut down there other media sites if there's any criticism.

Corporates must have loved paying for this view... Like a desert sandstorm I may not be back, which after 40 years is saying something. Over wasting $100 per week...

I made the right decision for sure .Beam me up scotty ,Get that on THE DIRT Mosen and co,
The crew doing the prep at the springs should be hung drawn and quarted for that sh-t,Who ever lets them race and thinks that is o k to race on should get the same ,
Maybe they need pay the team from wacky park to come do their track ,
For an international speedway that is purely disgracefull .NOT BE BACK until bikes then those clowns at least get told how to do the track

Cards Its your choice to view and read each post that is written on here by who ever ,So if you are so SICK of it ,you know what to do . The evidence posted in the photos does indicate problems once again ,however did the drivers boycott the meeting ??/ and yes we drank a little dust in the corporate seats washed down with some plonk ,but until Buckley recognizes the problem ,with his so called promotion ,and the drivers ban together and say no racing on a track considered dangerous ,then you may have a change in direction to the problems that exist . I suggested rotary howing it, the old with the new evidence in one of those photo,s show s how it hasnt bound together but of course we are a critic are we not .

Keep hearing that the promotions are not allowed to spend time during the week to prepare the track. I bet that they don't spend twp hours preparing the track for the Speedway Grand Prix.

Saw this on Facebook and wanted to share for all the non Facebookers
Auckland Sprintcar Club (Official) On behalf of the Sprintcar Drivers who raced the Grand Prix under very challenging conditions last night at Western Springs Speedway, the club wish to apologise to every single fan that came out last night to watch and support your favourite drivers. We know your there and wish we could provide the top level entertainment you have paid for but we can only race on the conditions that are provided and despite many attempts to work with the providers we have been unsuccessful to help rectify the problems.
This season has been a challenge to say the least and with one night left at The Springs we can only hope our sprintcar fans, supporters, sponsors etc are still there at the end with us. The show must go on and the drivers are doing everything they can to provide you all with the level of entertainment you have come to enjoy in past years.

well perfect timing for all the midget and sprint car drivers to ban together and make a stand, don't turn up to the final meeting. It will only be effective if a majority stand. And if there really is 95% of the drivers that are that unhappy shouldn't be too hard to organise within themselves. I know they have sponsors and stuff to think about, but sounds like they are going to lose exposure anyway due to unhappy punters not going back, they might even get their sponsors support, who knows. Obviously from what people are saying, verbal negotiations will not achieve much.

went to put bag and chair in the car during the TQ feature, on the way back in the dust storm above the track looked like heavy fog.
This sort of thing probably more than anything will annoy the residents. Homes and cars and anything else outside covered in dust.
If the wind direction was the other way and it was blowing across the motorway they would have been shut down.

Problem is SPL are too involved.
How many of these competitors get their cars fixed at BSL? How many have purchased cars from BSL? If they supported a boycott how would it affect their relationship with BSL?
Mind you competitors are voting with their feet already. Was it 19 TQ's last night? I can't recall the last time we had so few TQ's. 15 Sprintcars for the Grand Prix - terrible field.
The Steward is the person who can stop the meeting due to track conditions. Who is that you ask? Bill Buckleys mate Mal Parsons.
Forget the residents association. Forget the council. The biggest threat to the future of Western Springs as a speedway venue are the muppets tasked with running the place.

There was a lot of dust in the sky yea, but personally I didn't get covered by much myself, and I sit on pine tree so usually do! And walking back to the car I thought it was gonna be covered, but didn't even need to wash it this morning, it must of all just went up! Those pics are all of the same hole, but it was a big one. What made it worse was drowning the outside lane before the second sprint car heat, all that time watering and wheel packing between the races to try and save it but they just made it worse. Was far too greasy so no one would go up there for the rest of the night.

After last nights meeting I walked the track following Graeme Standring, he was stopping to pick up large u shaped pins from the surface. Graeme was telling me that these were used to hold covers on the track for the Eminem concert. He had picked up 20 during the meeting. My question is, if the track was prepared "properly" harrowed, watered and turned again why would these pins be on the surface still knocked into the track where they were placed weeks ago ?? How has this happened ?? Greg Mosen stood up at a meeting and told us they knew what they were doing wrong and had a plan in place to fix it. They had met with other track prep teams and understood what needed to be done. GREG IT HASNT HAPPENED !!!! Greg you told us the large water truck would no longer be used as it was creating large ruts. FAIL AGAIN !!!!! nuts Greg, its not looking good here.
All drivers and crews have a choice to race or not. But lets be honest, we are all there to race. We shouldn't have to put up with this weekly crap. People are calling for a boycott of the final meeting. Personally I don't believe this will achieve anything, because the promotion dont give a FIG !! Where has Bill been during all of this ?? In the corporate suite ?? Hope dinner was tasty last night Bill, looked like the majority of dust ended up on your lap, cant say I felt sorry for you.
If we were going to go elsewhere where are the TQ's going to end up ?? Personally I think we need to sort this out, or else Huntly please put us on your weekly roster, I would be happy to drag the car to you for a track thats not going to rip up our gear week to week. The arrogance WXC Speedway show is nothing short of nuts, I wonder if any of this anger has gotten back to WXC ?? How do they feel about having there name associated with this pack of monkeys ?? Fingers crossed the last night will be a ripper, because the rest of the season has been a shambles.

are they trying to get people in the mindset of the track being crap at Western Springs and the only thing to fix it would be moving.

Disgusting! I'm glad we didn't bring prospective sponsors to this meeting. When we walked in at 4:30 you could see the water sitting on top of the surface, probably sprayed on I guess about an hour before. Knew the track was going to crap when the cars came in from warmup covered in dust and not mud. I don't think new commers to speedway will be back, very poor.
