Mine wasn't one of the epic hits or mega crashes but a more subtle moment that made me realise there are many facets to teams racing. Not just brawn & bash.
Early '90s at the Teams Nats - Stafford vs. Meanee Roydon Collingwood in the little 7S straight 6 (Black chassis blue Cuthrie Bowron body) came off turn 2 at full tilt. Block car waiting half way down the straight. Block car obliviously sees Roydon, accelerates hard & is going to 'Do a job'. Collingwood doesn't lift, block car doesn't lift, but Collingwood makes a dive for the inside, block car takes it but it was a fake & Collingwood powers round the outside. Block realising what’s up swerves to the right but misses by only inches as both drivers never ever lifted!! Pure theatre by both, huge nakers by both but the small car had taken on the might of the blocker & succeeded. From this moment on I was hooked.
Close second - Bootes colossal crash resembling Swan Lake at Palmy. I thought he was going into the crowd he got that much air. Close third - Paul Memanser stalled across the back straight at Teams Nats. Auckland car winds up for a lap & hits him far straight across the front. Front half of the car now at a huge angle from the main chassis. Demanser gets out & walks (This is a good thing) away. Commentator asks him what he wants & Demanser quips back - A new car!!! Priceless.

The late '80's for me, 1988/89 season I think it was (I am a slow learner). This was the first time I ever visited the Palmy Teams Champs. Everything changed after that......been a LOT of memories since then.

95/96 season, watching the Centra / AVD team wage war on anything and everything. Got me hooked as a youngster!

Mine would have to be this 1 race here. the 1998 Stockcar Teams Champs final and in my eyes one of the best finals ever seen. For Eddie to get a hit that huge his car destroyed and for him to continue on to put wesbury up the wall just half a lap later made that race for me and from then i was 100% hooked on teams racing.
Those days it was more if you get a chance to drill someone just do it even if you were winning. Now days a lot more strategy comes into play and youl never see a lead car take a big shot if its on
If i could teams race every weekend instead of just normal racing i would!
