I went to the May dega race. Parts of it were enjoyable, but I would not go again. Unless it was for the off track antics which I hear are great. Only did the Sunday race and was surprised there are no support races on the Sunday. The long tracks are a lottery with 90% just touring around and looking to team up with a drafting partner. It's all about aero. Impressive facility and glad I tried it, but would try a 1k track or similar if I'm over there again. And rednecks! Unbelievable! Strangest site was swearing in of a few locals that had finished armed forces training. In front of over 100,000 cheering fans. Plenty of families there, but all one colour & creed.

Plenty of families there, but all one colour & creed. I don't wanna go off subject but.... Not that diffo to Nz speedway really. I think it's just that oval track racing for the most part attracts a WASP crowd. Sitting next to some German backpackers at a normal meeting in Palmy about 2 years ago(they weren't race fans but were told if u go to Palmy, u should go to Speedway) they looked around near the end of the night and asked me "It's only zee white people zat go to zee races yaa?" Judith Collins also made a comment that "I really loved it, but it looks like I fit Speedways demographic pretty well"

Some years back someone put some plans on the table to build a Nascar track at Queen Elizabeth Park, but like WS there are always those out there who did not want this to come about.

You cant really take nascar racing too seriously its sport for rednecks and drivers getting out attempting go over punch another opponent just entertainment spectacle brings people out its put on for public just like wrestling is. I cant sit watch cars go round and round tight shaped oval about 600 laps that does get BORING. If i had choose between politics f1 or entertaining bashing and crashing drawn out nascar race. F1 would come out on top every time

Mate, F1 one is a stuck up procession that drivers have to buy their way into a seat with money, contacts and personality. If you are not 100% on either one of those you wont make it into the drivers seat for a race. You are kidding yourself if you think that F1 is a display of the best motor racing drivers in the world. Give me some good Nascar racing over the F1 Circus and their trained monkeys any day of the week. lol
