Were did ya here that Rhodesta? were you in the grandstand. It's never been closed top or bottom in the ten years i've been involved until now. my sister - who went to the monster trucks with the boy child his three sisters and her husband.... they told me their experience Ive just passed it on. they have been going for many years now with my brother - all of tthem - and even my parents who go only once in a blue moon - agree that the stands are dangerous and they have all been saying so for the last few years.

I don't know which monster truck event your sister went to mate, but when we had the monster trucks early this year, we had a bumper crowd on the Saturday night top and bottom of the grandstand, and everyone packed under the grandstand on the Sunday night as the rain came down and the show still went on.
People have been moved around Wp over the years due to wind vs fireworks, but otherwise we have never had any concerns with the grandstand safety.

western springs running international sprint cars, bay park running and no grand stand - crowd was pretty light! all things being equal should have 700-800 temporary seat grand stand in place on front straight for Dec 20 Christmas event. BTW that is a huge result for the club when considering the process involved in dealing with the landlord! Hats off to the committee members working overtime behind the scenes to get this in place. The seating position (even though temporary) will be stellar, and once people get up and close to the action it will hard to go back!
I hope there are some positive messages to come out of this - yes there has been little investment from the city in the venue for a long time, yes the city needs a venue that lives up to ticket paying punters expectations, yes the process of moving forward is onerous and exhaustive; BUT yes the club has managed to resolve the issue in a matter of weeks. I really wish this is celebrated and supported. You have no idea of the time that has gone into getting a result behind the scenes quietly and in a dignified manner.
The negative impact of public speculation over the grandstand and future of WP needs to be overcome quickly - the word needs to spread that a great solution is close at hand.
Crowd was slim on Saturday - lets work to make sure it is good for the 20th!

Hi just a quick question about the 35a car is a Mazda R100?. If so did you run a 10a in it?.
It was a R100 running a 13B stage 3, John Le-Fevre the previous driver won the Australian Saloon Car Championship in it in 1977 at Waikaraka Park. The car was owned by Kevin Elmsly the Service Manager for Gulf Mazda North Shore who I purchased it off. I believe the car held the lap record at Waikaraka for 6 years, cheers.
Just corrected a mistake in my post about what engine the R100 was running, it was a 13B Stage 3, memory is not as good as it used to be
