They went well, especially Hawke's Bay's Ben Harding (as per the story).

I'm struggling to know why half the crowd left after the final teams race. That saloon feature was an awesome way to finish an awesome weekend. Bring them back again. And if you get the chance to see them anywhere else they are well worth it

And if you get the chance to see them anywhere else they are well worth it I'm picking it's because the crowd mostly was there for the teams racing and the Supers Saloons (on this occasion at least) were just the sideshow. I doubt there would be any other class that would have kept the crowd seated let alone one that was about to give them another dusting.

crowd left early .....no they didn't grandstand still full. no one was in a hurry to leave!!
like the reserved seating story . no problems

I'd guess more like 10-20%. But that happens every year, once the final teams race is over, a small portion of the crowd makes a beeline for their cars to get a head start on the traffic.
