2 hours to go. Will it be a fairytale ending for the Polish God Tomasz Gollob, who won the first ever SGP race at Wroclaw 20 years ago today, or will it be the time to shine for Magic the former under 21 world champion and the future of Polish speedway, in front of the largest ever crowd in SGP history with the Poland National Stadium a sellout of 55,000 fans.

What a shambles. What an absolute disgrace. Add in their picture problems, sound problems and graphic problems, it's far from a good watch.

ooooh, it's interesting all right. Barry B I've started watching it, and I just have two questions ① Why use an SNZ referee? ② Why use an NZ Streaming co to provide the coverage.

As you were already up, at least you didn't have to actually get up at 5am to watch the local amateur operatic society presenting something akin to a half-baked, half-length version of Gone With The Wind.

What a total disgrace from start to finish.
The track wasn't fit for practice the day before the event, only 2 riders practice. Then they do some urgent work and order a 9am practice on the day of the event. WTF? Riders are supposed to be preparing themselves for a World Championship, not getting out of bed at the crack of dawn for a practice.
Then the event itself rapidly turns into a total farce. The tapes malfunctioning. How can tapes malfunction at an event like this? They don't malfunction on Sunday afternoon at Rosebank Rd! The first ever green light starts at an SGP event. How ridiculous. Naturally the track turns to crap and the riders decide they've had enough.
The officiating was totally incompetent. Maybe it was a Speedway New Zealand official? Heat 1 Batchelor somehow gets to restart despite cleaning up Pedersen. Heat 2 Stevie Wonder in the officiating box can't see the tapes going up unevenly. Then in a later heat Doyle takes off early and gets replaced by a reserve! Since when has a jump start resulted in a reserve getting the call-up? Finally Holder crashes on lap 3 and heat 10 is declared under the last lap crash rule. Except Holder's crash wasn't on the last lap....
What was the blokes name running this shambles? Phil Morris or something wasn't it? If he has any integrity he should resign. Referee Jim Lawrence should be sent back to referee the under 8's.
I hope the fans are refunded every cent they paid to watch that rubbish.

Add in some races being run from both the tapes AND the lights, as many races were started multiple times (some were even run to their conclusion, then re-run), and you have a night of weird decision making processes. Then you had Troy Batchelor completely disappearing UNDER the air fence designed to catch the riders, so it's little wonder the riders had had enough after 12 of the 23 races when the track surface had deteriorated somewhat. Farical. And the quality, especially early on, of our sound and pictures wasn't much better!!!

This is what I wanted to see in Warsaw, Tomasz Gollob at his absolute best yesterday in the Polish League. Dont forget the SEC best pairs are on Sky tv on tuesday at 10am for some non farcical racing

How is Emil Sayfudtinov not racing in the SGP. He is the most spectacular rider by far and will be crowned European Champion for the 2nd time in a row after this weekend, unless Nikki Pedersen crashes into him. SGP make him a wildcard for 2016 please. www.facebook.com/tv4sport/videos/1022279264458549/

Can't make him if he don't wanna do it. Mryiad of reasons why he don't, all pretty "messy" by the sound of things, but basically he's said he can't afford it. But agreed, he'd give the scene a real good shake up. At least my favourite rider is in there next year, go Bartek.

If they show the best pairs like they did last year then I think they will. Hope they also keep up the Swedish League and the European championship coverage. The more speedway the better. Just need to convince them to show the British League where there will be a Kiwi riding this year

Sky UK no longer doing the SGPs.. that's gone over to BTSports. Eurosport may not be doing Swedish Eliteserien either. Speedway in Britain is probably at an all-time low for the sport sadly. Dodgy promoters...the odd club shutting up shop after 1 unofficial pre-season fixture (Plymouth).Belle Vue staging their 1st meeting at the brand new National Stadium to a full house, only to find the track was nutse and unsafe..meeting canned,,,and the next 2 or 3 as well. Many GP riders and others of international quality no longer bother with Britain. Not all doom and gloom of course, but a long way short of where it once was. Even Poland has had to combine Liga1 and Liga2 coz of club closures, inabilty to move up to the next league when a club qualifies for it etc.Very tough financial times for speedway in Europe at the moment it seems.
Meanwhile... BWD has had a couple of hitouts for Sommerset. Scored a couple of points in a challenge match against Elite League Swindon before it was rained off, then yesterday got 4+1 against fellow 2nd Div club Rye House. Going to be a lot tougher this year for him, but i reckon he'll go well.
