The Whangarei speedway will be holding a Graeme Andrews memorial trophy meeting on the 16th May for super saloons. Graeme's wife will be present to hand over the trophy. Hope there is a good turn out of supers for this trophy meeting for a man who gave so much to the class. When I saw him race in Jan, and saw him in the pits before the meeting didn't think by May there would be a memorial meeting for him. Big ups to Whangarei for putting this together.
From their web site 1pm start Other class's on the programme saloon invitation, northland stockcar nationals, mini stock trophy dash, sprint cars plus club grades. Rain date sun 17th.

There was 3 late withdrawl's, Emo / Kyle Webster both with starting problems and Keith Wilson with a death in the family. Totally against the met forecast of a sunny afternoon, two showers occurred, the 2nd one a cloud burst. With rain over night and the track at sea level[ limited drainage ] they couldn't bring the track back after the 2nd down pour. Cars were getting stuck wheel packing and sliding in all directions. The track previous to this was very drivey and looked like a good after noon of racing and close action was in store. Macca won the trophy, and all credit to Whangarei for putting together this fitting trophy for a gentleman who lived and breathed speedway. It was a touching moment having his wife present the trophy. The busiest vehicle of the day was the tractor pulling the competitors out of the car park.
