So we hear that this crazy idea is actually going ahead.... I / We / Kelford Cams are dead against the idea for many different reasons. In my opinion, it is an unnessessary expense for competitors. It will not slow the cars down and it will not stop cheats cheating. It will however line a few pockets and create another item that is difficult to police. Please don't think we are sour for not getting to be this supplier. We are certainly not. I offered to SNZ to do this at cost or even for free if they really wanted to gown this ridiculous path. Keen to hear opinions of others.

I totally see where you're coming from. I'm no expert on engines, far from it, but even I can see at least a couple of things that engine builders can do to negate the intention of this rule. The crux of the matter is that you can have as many rules as you want but they're not worth a tin of s--t if you don't police and enforce them. I could wax on at length of the numerous examples of this that I witnessed over the years that my son was racing Ministocks and any attempt to work with SNZ on these matters was an exercise in frustration and a complete waste of time. Only positive is that no one from now on can say that Kelfords ground a dodgy Ministock cam

So whats to stop someone buying a control cam and then getting it ground or whatever done by another engine builder? seems like it will be as impossible to police as the current rule (which the standard cam is already basically a control cam)? Is there actually a way to tell a engine has a control cam or not easily without stripping the motor down?

And assuming all this is confirmed and is to be brought in before the start of the next season, who's the lucky fella who has to grind up and supply 400 odd cams in the next 3 months?

When is it being release where we can get the new cam from? I dont know. SNZ arent interested in answering e mails about it anymore. I believe it is all being driven by someone that has his own interests in mind rather than the best interests of the class.

It is hard to police without taking it out of the motor. The whole thing is plain stupid. Hopefully it falls over.
