Who would have thought we now have a front bumper shaped like an Arrow. I stopped in at Rees Race Cars on the way through the Manawatu today, for the first time in a few years. After struggling finding a park amongst the superstocks and stockcars being traded in, rebuilt, and new chassis stacked up to the ceiling for the 16 lucky new owners. I was lucky enough to see the new 10g (and 1nz, but that’s another story). After being blown away by the look and performance of the cars this yet I expected a little more of the same. WRONG. The Arrow (my description haha) is another level again. Certainly some different thinking gone into this, with driver safety to the forefront (I guess this comes from having family in the sport and the giving and receiving over the years and a desire to keep customers safely racing for years to come) and of course weight, speed, and handling equally high on that list. Anyway, without going on, the new chassis looks the goods and is certainly a departure from the norm, let alone last year. Can’t wait to see it out! Also whispers of a big Rees Race cars stockcar meeting with cash and some special prizes for early in the season. Some very interesting ideas here! Will try and upload a couple of photos, but also see The offical pages has uploaded some. I reckon next season we have to see some sort of sidewinder next haha. Think there is a straight chassis rail, or is it a Arrow at the back too? Or a 4 rail? I always though Tony Mac rear ends looked like a tank coffin at the back anyway This shed was all Race Cars and forklifts Even raceseats run off set these days Was good to see AR Engineering and Performance in the house too 👊🏻 Probably won’t be allowed back after this post, but the innovation was too plain interesting to keep to me self

Thanks for the pms and messeges in this post team
Any other new or innovative stockcar builds happening out there?
Also wondering if we see a few more no body “bodies” on stockcars and superstocks this year. Apart from the 16 coming out of the Rees workshop that is

I'm sure Noel Inns 94c had a 'arrow' bumper on one of his car's a while back.

Speaking of different bumpers... a few years ago there were some cars like the Gurney Eagle that had round back bumpers, I suppose to reduce the impact of hits. Just wondering how come this style isn't around any more?

Yes the great Kevin Free used to build his cars with the round back bumper, looked cool. This sounds super interesting. I hope no one tells Pete. Last thing we need is another new look? Have to call that one the bow and arrow? Haha. Great classic shots. Anyone else found any of Cars missing bits of a body ie no Body bodies? I think this style has in reality been around in stockcars longer than the Ford Y.. One of the first I saw live below Question:How much stockcar body do you see on this beast? Answer: none, only exhaust covers! TAnk 5. Similar to 4 in that it was narrower and built for modern tyres, engine also offset. Scotty's first Tank.

Speaking of different bumpers... a few years ago there were some cars like the Gurney Eagle that had round back bumpers, I suppose to reduce the impact of hits. Just wondering how come this style isn't around any more? The intention was so you could pivot out of a contact situation. With square bumpers you get locked in and vulnerable for straight lining. ie with a car pushing from behind you keep going straight ahead. From memory and without consulting the rule book there was a 200mm layback stipulation implemented that prevented the use of bumpers like they use to use. I think there may be something in there to requiring square corners. With backyard building now a thing of the past all off the shelf chassis are all the same.

Yep, I think the rules changed. Waaaay back at the original Baypark Laurie Mathers had one of those semicircular rear bumpers.
