A great night overall, anchored by the maestro Paul Hickey on the mic.
Arriving late and having to park on the road turned out to be a godsend ultimately. Walking out past all of the jammed up cars in the car park to immediately join the queue on the road out was nice.
Main thought of the night? The amount of after-flag action and illegal hits against the flow of traffic. So many drivers that don't understand which way the race direction is, or what the chequered flag means. Some would of been better suited to sidecars perhaps?
Overall? Well done to Huntly for putting on such a meeting so early in the season. Bad weather would of been a catastrophe, but knowing several days before that there was zero chance of rain drew out the punters. Hopefully the club made a few dollars, and does it all again in 2020.

The referee has the discretion to dq the whole team for something like attacking of the infield or arcing in the wrong direction etc don't they? Or has that changed? I want there but were there offsetting offences that the ref maybe took into account?

I don't think there can be much defence when you just about cover a 360 degree circle whilst attacking your opponent (no grass involved). At some stage you're going to be going in the wrong direction. I think they whole-team disqualification is still in the book, but it has to be a pretty ugly act to see it activated I think. I like what was suggested above. The attacking car is sent off, AND the leading car from his team as well. I don't think the incident warranted 2k's being DQ'd, but it hi lighted a problem in the existing rule. Baypark lost their key driver to an illegal act, and Sneddon being removed was not enough of a punishment. DQ'ing the team would of been too great, but the current rules don't allow for anything in between. They should.

In the Ashby case wouldn't it be better after taking the win to pull off on to the infield on the back straight rather than keep racing for another whole lap where you have more chance of being collected by those still racing under the green?. With the Waikato v Auckland incident you can understand with the 4lap race that drivers miss calculated. BarryB Didn't see to many attacking in the wrong direction apart from when Horse got rolled. Did see the 85K do a sneaky slip to the sanctuary on the infield at the start of the semi final against the Busters which was a bit poor. Great night's entertainment otherwise.

How on earth speedway will ever become mainstream family sport when it continues to do nothing about alcoholic idiots who think it is ok to drink 24 cans of waikato swamp water, throw cans at 5 year old children, vomit everywhere, swear incessantly and just be general obnoxious human beings. Kihikihi might have won on the track but the 10 male youths sitting in turn 2 wearing your colours were a disgrace.

Yes unfortunately there is that 1 percent no matter what sport we had that 1 year at teams champs

Really enjoyed the on track action last night, but getting out of there was a joke.I got there at 3 ,get directed to park in a far corner ,join a long queue to get in ,then after 15 minutes they start opening other gates.I know the final is the main event ,but why not bring it forward a couple of races so those that want to can leave , or at least have someone directing the flow of traffic out of a bottle neck of a car park.

I also dont understand...
If you want to smoke or vape you have to go outside the gates but if you want to drink as much alcohol as you wish and ruin others nights... your allowed to do that inside.

Hey what great night of speedway Some things to improve on. Half the menu was missing from the food outlets, I wondered if this was the result of vegan speedway fans flexing their muscle (no pun intended). But on the bright side I was slightly lighter on the scales this morning so no harm done. I find Huntly meetings slow on the pace in getting the races out. Last night was no exception. Why do we have wait for all of race cars to leave before the water truck can come out, then wait for the water truck to finish before the next race comes out. Just get the next race out, merge like a zip people and give way. Or as they say in the US of A," YEILD" to the water truck. A hand full of cars at WP have learnt that the hard way. At my age time is precious, including my bedtime. There was some real dodgy stuff from a few of the teams, but that just made things more interesting. Lost track of laps, didn't see the chequered flag fall, or the red light for that matter. Yeah right, tell it to Judge Judy. Getting out wasn't easy, but you'd have to say, a victim of the overall success, who saw that size crowd turning up. Im sure a local traffic management company will provide some free advice on how to fix that in the future. Four on four would have made for a tighter final, but that's racing. Sometimes its the long game, and one team succumbed to mechanical failures. We had blast and a thoroughly entertaining night, worth every cent of the gate. Super stock teams combined with the stock cars at the coal face was a success.

I've often wondered why don't drivers just pull off into infield once taken the win? 96m Shane Anderson did that in a NI Championship at Baypark back in the 1990's and there was a faux pas with the flags. He went under the white flag, did one more lap and pulled infield. But it was another white flag and he went infield before the chequered flag. Flaggies cock up in confusion when the race leader was spun after the first white, but it cost Anderson the title. Since then most drivers do an extra lap at pace.

It's pretty difficult to bring the Teams Final forward 2 races when the format has teams racing THREE times in the night (the norm is two). Palmy might of only been able to front with two cars if it held any earlier.
