Clark was always a great Teams Racer at Waikaraka Park after he shifted to Auckland from Wellington. Always had time for a chat. I was flying from Auckland to Wellington one Saturday afternoon and just before they shut the doors to the aircraft, the last passenger to board was Clark. He happened to be seated next to me and thought he was going to miss the flight. He had driven in record time from Pukekohe Raceway where he had been practicing on the circuit. We were heading to a 50th Birthday party and Clark was also heading to a 50th. R I P Clark - you have left so many great memories.

Very sad to hear. Clark always showed an interest in the old cars and our club. When in Palmy he would stop by the Railway during teams champs and have a beer and a chat. Condolences to Clark's family and friends. John Farndon Historic stock car club of NZ

Very sad news. RIP Can Man. Always the entertainer in speedway. Absolutely loved the escort racecar he pedalled in Targa type events.

Very sad. I would have thought he was younger than 60? Was very intimidating in a staunch car and a fear Ess attitude on the track. And who can forget the national impact with the Todd and Pollock MI5 No, that is a Proctor/Chestnutt chassis partly built at the same time as the highbar and finished years later as Rick's second superstock. This is the once highbar car: ]

On behalf of the Rawiri whanau we would like to send our condolences to Clarke's whanau, friends and the speedway/motorsport community. We have not only lost a great driver but a friend and mentor. Over the years you have played a big part of the Rawiri whanau and stockcar racing, you will be missed by us all. We will cherish the memories, the hits and the banter. Such a sad loss that you've left a big pot hole on the track. We wish you well on your final lap as the chequered flag lowers for you one more time. RIP DOC Much love from all the Rawiri boys #97a #137a #98a #7m
