It's with sadness to learn that Graham Mitchell passed away in Auckland on 31 December. Graham was one of the original drivers in the Pall Mall stockcar team at Waikaraka Park in the early 70's. In 1972 Graham came second in the NZ Stockcar Championship at Waikaraka Park and in 1978 he won the NZ Stockcar Championship at Stratford. Our thoughts are with his wife Helen and children Ricky, Cathy and Heather. There will be a memorial service for Graham later in January. RIP.

One of the best ,with a heart of gold ,.We shared some great stories ,some of which were about a dear friend Charlie RIP and the way Graham explained things was legendary .The last time Rotorua held the Super Stock Champs Graham with a bit of encouragement braved himself to travel down to this meeting with us ,we had to have a few pit stops along the way .Condolences to his wonderful wife Helen and family .. RIP Graham. A bit of a grumpy buggar at times, but you don't get to be the very best by accident. I don't think I ever met anyone more passionate about the sport of stockcar racing, and there are very few that could make the claim to having as bigger footprint in the sport as Graham. RIP, say hi to Charles, Warrick, and others. Brendan Lucas

The historic stock car club is sad to advise that life member Graham Mitchell passed away with his family by his side. Although Graham had been unwell his passing still comes as a shock. From stock rods at Gloucester park in 1962 to vintage stock cars with HISCONZ Graham enjoyed stockies. We were so fortunate to enjoy our club Christmas function with Graham just a few week's ago. Our thoughts are with Helen and all family and friends. John Farndon Secretary Historic stock car club of nz Please view, Mitchell Racing f/b Graham will be farewelled at a private family service.
